Corbin's Outfit

Tonight was a very important night. Not because Shyanne's yearly bash was going on tonight, but because tonight was the night of he and Peyton's two year anniversary. Everything had to be perfect for the love of his life. He had managed to slip out of their dorm unnoticed while Peyton got ready. All he had told her was to dress nicely because they were going out for dinner, but that's all the information that she got. Corbin had to go to the mall to pick up all of the gifts he had pre-ordered for his girl. One of those gifts included a promise ring. Corbin felt like now was the right time to give her one because well...he couldn't see his future without Peyton in it.

He had to admit that he was nervous about the promise ring thing, he didn't want Peyton to feel any pressure from the gift, but he shook those nerves as he drove back to the dorms.

He sent the text before getting out of his car with the bundle of roses and box of chocolates in his hand. He entered the dormitory building and made his way to Peyton's room before giving a gentle knock on the door.

Peyton's outfit (minus jewelry) x hair

Two years. It was just so surreal to Peyton that she had only been with Corbin two years. What was two years compared to the rest of their lives? At least, she hoped so one day. But she was getting ahead of herself. One day at a time. This day just so happened to be their anniversary. She had no idea what Corbin planned for her other than spoiling her like he always did. He didn't need to give her a lot of gifts or impress her for her to love him. She already did. Though she had to admit, she did love the thought he put into the romantic gestures. Hopefully he liked the gifts that she had got him.

Peyton had started out simple by getting him a silver keychain for his car keys. It had a football with his jersey number on a different piece. Then she ended up getting a second silver keychain - Peyton knew how much Corbin enjoyed driving and that he was looking forward to having the car full time. One side of the keychain had "Teamwork. Commitment. Success" engraved while the other side had "Corbin DuVaul, MVP" engraved. Even if he wasn't officially MVP of the team, he was her MVP. Finally there was one small other piece attached to the keychain with Peyton's name, signifying how much she was always going to support him and be there for him. To top it off, she went through her playlist - and just so happened to copy Corbin's playlist during a convenient shower one night - to create a mixed CD of his favorite songs, the songs he mostly danced to and, naturally, a couple of their songs. Peyton got the music on two CD's. Together her gifts may not have seemed like much - nothing compared to what Corbin must have had in store for her - but the thought, effort and love was clearly there.

Peyton had her outfit set on her bed while she was working on her hair. She'd been going at it for two hours and was finally almost done. Hopefully he wasn't waiting for her too long! Peyton was not a girlie girl and often didn't put a lot of thought or work into her appearance in general, but she always made the exception for her boyfriend. That was why she was not only making her hair look as close to perfect as possible, but also wearing a skirt. She had very few skirts in her closet. When Peyton heard a text go off, she finished the strand of hair she was working on and tied the part of her hair in a scrunchie that was finished; she didn't have a lot left thank God but she didn't want any curly strands to slip through. She smiled when she picked up her phone and saw Corbin's message.

Peyton put her phone down and finished up with the last of her hair. Looking in the mirror, all she had to do was move it so the majority was resting on her right shoulder. She slipped on her outfit before adjusting her hair just right. Fortunately moments after that she heard Corbin knock on her door. She could barely control her heart skipping a beat. He still gave her butterflies in her stomach before a date. "Coming," she smiled. She sat at the edge of her bed just to slip on her flats and then grabbed the gift bag. Peyton moved to the door and straightened out her skirt before letting out a breath and opened the door to see her one and only standing right in front of her. She couldn't help but place a hand over her mouth when she saw everything he had with him. "Oh my God..." She didn't even know what to say let alone think. Except for the obviously and very true, How the hell did I get so lucky?

A grin spread across his face at Peyton's over-joyed reaction, and the gift bag in her hand. Knowing his girlfriend, she had definitely put a lot of effort into his gift. Corbin leaned and gave Peyton a kiss on her lips before offering the flowers (which luckily came in a vase) and chocolates to her. "There's many more surprises in the car for you, beautiful." Corbin informed before taking a look at Peyton's outfit. She looked absolutely stunning, well she always did, but when she did her hair and got all dolled up Corbin always felt special.

"Wow how did I get so lucky to have such a gorgeous girl in my life." He commented genuinely. His eyes were filled with nothing but love. He waited for her to put up the flowers and chocolates before extending his hand to her. "This way to the chariot, m'lady." Corbin said playfully as he led them out to the student parking lot. He unlocked his car and rushed to open the passenger door for Peyton. Corbin made sure that she had comfortably made it into the car before walking over to the drivers side.

He reached into the back seat of the car and pulled out a teddy bear with a small box attached to it that held a beautiful necklace inside. He couldn't stop grinning like an idiot as he waited for Peyton's reaction.

When Peyton moved her hand away to take the vase and chocolates she felt Corbin's lips against hers. She returned the kiss, feeling the same fireworks go off every time they kissed. When they pulled away she smiled softly and shook her head. "What did you even do this time?" she teased playfully. She set the flowers on her desk and put the chocolates on her pillow - just a little late night snack for later. She turned back to Corbin and took in his whole look. He looked as handsome as he always did and she just loved the way his eyes lit up. For her, it almost never mattered what Corbin were; she could stare into his eyes all night. Even as he took in her appearance Peyton couldn't help but let a small blush swallow her cheeks. "Oh, stop. I'm the lucky one to have a guy like you."

She was about to take his hand when she thought of something. "Hold on one sec." She went to her flowers and took two out from the vase. One she stuck in her hair, which she figured would look nice. She walked back to Corbin with the second flower and set it in his pocket, though she paused to make sure it was staying in place. She couldn't help but pause and take in the scent of his cologne. God she loved it. "There. Perfect," she smiled up at him. Peyton placed her hand in his, a perfect fit as always. She followed him out to the car and curtsied when she opened the door. "Thank you kind sir." She sat down in the passenger seat, ready to buckle in her seat belt. The next thing she knew, Corbin surprised her with a teddy bear and another gift. A huge smile spread across her face. "What is this?" The obvious answer was a bear, but the question was also what was inside the box. Her jaw dropped as she opened it, seeing the necklace inside. "It's beautiful..." she breathed. He knew her so well! These nice little gestures and knowing exactly what she liked and her style.... When did he even find the time to get all these things between school and practice? "Corbin.... When...? How...?" She couldn't even conjure up a sentence!

Corbin just chuckled at Peyton's somewhat speechless-ness. "I might have had to do a lot of online ordering." He admitted, sticking his tongue out at Peyton. He had to be discreet with buying these things otherwise Peyton would've caught on to his surprise. "Want me to put it on for you?" he asked, pushing her hair to the side a bit so that he could clasp the necklace delicately around her neck. Wow, the piece of jewelry made her look even more stunning than she already looked.

He turned his attention away from Peyton so that he could plug his phone into the aux cord and put on a playlist that they had come up with together. "You ready to go babe?" Corbin asked, turning to look at Peyton before starting up his car. The drive to The Crystal Rooftop would take about fifteen minutes. Corbin had managed to get reservations for their rooftop seating that overlooked the city. He knew that Peyton would absolutely adore it.

Once they had arrived to the restaurant, Corbin found a parking spot and turned off the car, unlocking the doors. He got out and opened the door for Peyton before going into the backseat and slyly sneaking a small blue box into his pocket. Corbin held his hand out for his girlfriend before they stepped into the restaurant.
"Nice place, huh?" He commented as he took in the gorgeous interior of the restaurant.

How she even found someone who treated her like a queen, probably better than she could ever deserve much less imagine, was beyond her. Everything Corbin said and did...he could easily attract any girl he wanted. And he chose her. She turned back to him, just enough so he could see how the necklace looked on her before he would start driving. "And I love you, too, she said kissing his cheek.

She buckled in her seatbelt and kept the bear close to her, nodding at her boyfriend. The ride wasn't long so they only got through a few songs on the playlist, though Peyton couldn't help but sing along softly. Once they arrived at the restaurant, Peyton took Corbin's hand to get out of the car. She left the bear in her seat and grabbed the gift bag from underneath. She was planning on giving Corbin his anniversary gift once they were all settled at their table. She just hoped he liked it half as much as she loved everything he did for her. The two of them walked into the restaurant hand in hand and Peyton couldn't help but widen her eyes at the sight. Suddenly, as nice as she looked, she felt underdressed. This place was just so.... It was beautiful. The chandeliers, the candlelit tables, the soft background music...although she could have done without overhearing some of the waiters putting on snooty accents but that was a moot point.

"Just nice?" she breathed. She felt like she was going to have to grab onto his arm so she wouldn't fall over! "This place...it's romantic and beautiful and fancy.... Are those columns based on some of the architecture of the Baroque period?" It was...really, the only word to describe it was perfect. How many boyfriends, let alone high school boyfriends, would think to take their girls to a place like this? Peyton shook her head and moved so she was standing in front of Corbin, looking up into his eyes and squeezing his hands. "It's amazing here. But please, please don't tell me this is all just to impress me. This is our night. Wherever we go, whatever we do, that's all a side thought. As long as I'm with you, that is and will always be the only thing that ever matters." As serious and as genuine as Peyton was when she said all that, she couldn't help but take another glance around. "This place is...how does everyone say it? Off the tight?" She had no idea how slang sounded, let alone what words even meant incredible anymore. But there was no way that sounded right!

Corbin felt a warm feeling as his girlfriend expressed her awe over the restaurant he had chosen. He couldn't wait until he had gotten her to the rooftop of the magnificent place. "of course this is all for you, babe. I didn't want to take us out to dinner at Denny's for our two year anniversary." Corbin confirmed, though he knew that them spending time together was all that mattered.

The host came up and eyed the two young looking teenagers, before turning his eyes to Corbin. "Reservation?" He asked dryly. Corbin continued to hold Peyton's hand, but stepped up more to the host's podium. "Yes, two rooftop reservations under DuVaul." Corbin replied confidently, not letting the man's bitter attitude bother him. He couldn't be any happier right now and nothing was going to bring down his joy.

The host's reaction towards the teenagers seemed to change as he smiled at the, "Right this way." He led them to an elevator and pressed the biggest button. The doors opened to the beautiful rooftop portion of the restaurant. The host sat them. "Your waiter will be here shortly." he informed before leaving back down to his station. Corbin grinned widely at Peyton.

"So...how did I do?" He asked, reaching across the table to grab Peyton's hand. He would wait until after their meal to present the promise ring to her.

Denny's, a fancy restaurant, the park, his car, Burger King...ok admittedly not Burger King. Definitely not the best makeout spot ever. And Peyton should have known by now that no matter what she said, it wasn't going to stop Corbin from ever going all out. This would have been an even nicer moment if the host didn't stop them in the middle and look at them like they weren't even supposed to be there. What was he even remotely thinking? Why wouldn't they be there unless they had reservations? Peyton raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. And she wasn't going to act all snobbish as if they did belong there. She let Corbin work his magic just like he always did. One obnoxious worker wasn't going to get to Corbin's head and it wasn't going to get to Peyton's either.

She stood side by side with Corbin in the elevator, watching as they went up each level until they reached the roof. Peyton could barely move as the elevator doors opened. She took in the scene in front of them. This was even better than the inside. Of course she couldn't stand and gawk too long. Even after sitting at the table and placing her gift bag down, Peyton could help but look all around. There were bright lights, the skyline looked beautiful, there was such a nice gentle breeze.... And to top it off she was sitting across from the most amazing guy that could have possibly come into existence. Feeling Corbin's hand over hers, a smile spread across her face even wider and she squeezed his hand back.

"You did amazing. As always," she promised. "I don't know where you pull these ideas from but they blow my mind. Every time." She couldn't help but playfully reach across and poke his chest with her free hand - also an excuse to feel his abs through his shirt once in a while. "And you never cease to blow my gifts away. Every time. No one in their wildest dreams could ever top something like this." She added teasingly with a smirk, "And how do I know you don't just like hearing how amazing you are all the time?"

It would be a lie if Corbin's ego didn't inflate ever so slightly when he received compliments from his girlfriend, though he was genuinely happy that she enjoyed the surprise. Little did she know there was still much more to come. "Well what kind of anniversary would it be if I didn't treat my princess to a meal fit for royalty?" Corbin replied smoothly, enjoying the feeling of her hand lightly trailing across his chest. The two had gotten into heater make-out session before, but Corbin never wanted to push Peyton into something she was uncomfortable with, so that's why he was going to wait for her.

"I'm sure the gifts you got me are spectacular, hon. I always love something that comes from you." Corbin reassured, giving Peyton's hand a gentle squeeze. He looked around the restaurant and noticed a lot of people waiting to be catered to by their waiters. He looked down at his watch, they would have plenty of time to eat and get to Shyanne's party since they were having an early-ish 7pm dinner.

He smirked at Peyton, "Maybe it's a bit of an ego boost, babe, but just remember, you're the attractive one in the relationship." Corbin replied with a wink as their waiter came by with large wine glasses filled with water. "Hello, my name is Joshua and I'll be your server for the evening. Could I start you off with some beverages?" The waiter asked politely. "I'll take a peach lemonade please, and what did you want hon?" Corbin asked Peyton.

"Well when you put it like that..." But only because he backed her into a corner. Really, any other answer she would give would be wrong, at least. Though she expected the perfect response with him. Corbin knew exactly what to say every time, no matter who it was. How he did that was beyond Peyton.

Before she could respond to anything else the waiter approached asking for their drink order. Normally Peyton would have just said a water would be fine. But Corbin probably wouldn't hear of it and insist she order something else. Though it wouldn't be meant for her to be cheap on purpose. "Could I just have a seltzer please?" she asked. Simple enough, and there would always be the water so they wouldn't worry about refills. And she wouldn't have to hear Corbin encouraging her to order something else. As much as she loved hearing his voice, they had much better things to talk about than what drinks to get. The bigger question would be what food to order, which fortunately they had time to decide. Joshua promised the drinks would be right out and with that, Peyton returned her gaze to her boyfriend.

"One day though, I should just bring you flowers on a date and stick a football in the bouquet," she joked. Deep down Peyton knew that Corbin loved her gifts. But she couldn't exactly shower him with flowers or chocolate like he did her. Although she had toyed with the idea of getting him a football every date and marking it with something that symbolized what they did. Come to think of it, maybe she should start doing that. "I just like to know that you're as happy with everything I get for you like I always am when you give something to me." She removed her finger from his chest to playfully point it at him. "And for the record, anyone with one eye can see you from a mile away. They'll see you big grown eyes and charming smile long before they even see anything about me. I'm pretty sure you win most attractive." Peyton wasn't afraid to admit it because it was true. Just as long as someone equally as attractive didn't hit on Corbin and think they remotely stood a chance.

Peyton crossed her legs under the table and lightly rubbed her thumb against Corbin's hand. "So which would you prefer to do first? Order food or open your gift?" Though she was pretty sure she knew what he was going to say.

Corbin shot Peyton a look when she order a seltzer water. Tonight was his treat to her, he wanted her to order whatever she wanted, but he knew that she was modest when it came to going out to eat. Hopefully she ordered something she really wanted off of the menu. His grin widened at Peyton's gift suggestion. "You know...that would be really cool. I would just to have to get a book shelf for all of my footballs." He acknowledged. zit was actually a really cute idea and would be a role reversal to the guy getting flowers for the girl norm.

He gently rubbed his thumb over her hand in return. "Don't you ever doubt it. I will always love any and every gift I get from you." Corbin assured. He left out a pft at Peyton's notion of him being the more attractive one in the relationship.
"Have you seen your beautiful smile and dimples? I've had to set a few guys on the football team straight for talking about you." Corbin counter-commented.

"Hmmm...how about I open yours before dinner and you open my last gift to you after dinner, sound fair love bug?" He offered.

Peyton caught Corbin's look; not that she didn't acknowledge it, but there was no way she was going to order something so expensive either. And this was their anniversary night, not some fight club night. What she did like was that he was actually going along with her football bouquet idea. Why did she not think of it sooner? "Maybe I will start doing that the," she suggested innocently. Hopefully if they ever had the last two rooms in their dorm filled, those people just wouldn't mind having an abundance of flowers all over the place! "I'm sure there is a spot in your room just waiting for a shelf of footballs." Not that she was picturing Corbin working on putting a shelf up shirtless or anything. Well...she kind of was. Even if they hadn't gone all the way there have been some instances where she did see him with his shirt off. Not her fault she liked what she saw.

"Hmmmm...every gift?" she teased playfully, "like a pair of socks for Christmas?" Not that she would ever go that simple! She just wanted to see Corbin's reaction! A light blush returned to her cheeks when he mentioned her smile and dimples. And the thought of him getting on his teammates' case...he really was a knight in shining armor. Rather, knight in a football uniform. "Hey whatever those guys say, that's their problem. Especially if they have nothing better to do than talk about their teammates' girlfriend. Or they're just jealous that they can't be you. As if they think they could even come a molecule close."

Peyton thought about his proposal. Of course he'd have one final gift up his sleeve to close the night! Was he going to pay the waiter off to perform or something? Whatever it was, Peyton knew it was going to be sweet and creative just like Corbin. "Deal," she agreed with a smile. That meant they should probably figure out what to get; and once they ordered Peyton would give Corbin his gift. Moving her free hand back to her side of the table, she opened the menu to start skimming through it. She barely got through half the first page before bringing her gaze back to Corbin. "What are you thinking of getting?" she inquired, knowing full well that he was also going to need to start fueling up for the next big game.

"Yes even a pair of socks." Corbin agreed as Joshua had brought out there drinks before stepping away to another table that was ready to order. Corbin rolled his eyes and chuckled at Peyton, "What team member wouldn't be jealous. I Have the most perfect girl anyone could ask for-" He replied with such a genuine tone. Some days he couldn't even believe that this was the same girl who had said yes to him at the 8th grade spring formal. Man he was lucky yo have her. He would never pull a Brad move or anything like that. That was just a complete douchey thing to do.

Corbin was all smiles tonight and his smile grew when Peyton had agreed on their gift giving idea. As much as he didn't like taking his eyes off of his magnificent girlfriend, he did have to check the menu. He glanced over it briefly and looked up to Peyton. "I think I'm going to get the personalized duck pizza. Anything you have in mind? Go crazy." Corbin encouraged. As if on a timer, Joshua their waiter had sauntered over the table ready to take their orders.

Peyton couldn't help but smile and shake her head. Only Corbin would genuinely like the worst Christmas gift known to mankind. "You are something else," she complimented. But she always knew that. She knew that from the first time she met him. He was the first person to get to know her. Who actually wanted to know her. He wasn't afraid to ask for help- even if he could sometimes be a little hard on himself in the process. And, unlike most stereotypical football players, he was the most genuine and well-meaning guy who almost never let a bad or mean thought cross his mind. How many people were there like that in the world, really?

Even though Corbin thought the highest possible thing of Peyton, as she did him, and even if he meant it with everything he had there was still a limit. She could hear the love and sincerity in his voice every time. And no matter how much he showered her with compliments sometimes it still blew Peyton's mind that she was the one who got to hear them all the time. That she got to spend all this time with him. That out of every other girl he'd laid eyes on since they met no one seemed to compare. And they made her heart flutter every time. "Actually I think they're just jealous of you. That you know how to treat a girl - everyone really - with respect. That you are one of the best players on the team. And that you are not afraid to show what's inside your heart or talk about anything," she said. "Perfect...that's overrated. No one is perfect." She looked down at their hands and smiled, "But I believe that everyone out there is perfect for someone. And I know without a doubt that that's exactly what we have." Even if they were just in high school, there was still a lot that was going to happen. Worries over silly things. Something about crazy raging hormones. A lot of gossip and a lot of drama. There was a reason Corbin and Peyton found each other, especially only in middle school. And just like she wholeheartedly believed that the two of them were perfect for each other, she believed with all her heart that they were going to get through high school together. And once that was done they would get through everything together.

Peyton reluctantly looked to the menu again, even if it was hard to take her eyes completely off of Corbin. Of course go crazy, he would say. It was just a matter of what to 'go crazy' with. She barely got through a small portion of the menu when Joshua returned. "Could I get the penne a la vodka please? With a side salad?" She could easily picture her and Corbin sharing any leftovers the next night for dinner. And perhaps a small part of Peyton was already thinking about dessert. They couldn't go too over the top before that, after all.

"What kind of dressing would you like?" Joshua asked.

"Thousand Island, please," Peyton answered. "And is there any chance the tomatoes could go on the side?"

"Of course," the waiter nodded writing her order down. "And for you, sir?"

Peyton had brought up a good point, most of the guys on the football team were very against showing any sort of emotion. Occasionally they would tease him and Seamus for being 'pussy-whipped' by their girlfriends, but Corbin didn't care. He was too in love to let anyone's negativity interfere with their relationship. The only time Corbin had reacted negatively to someone was when they spoke about his girlfriend in an obscene way. That was something that he would never tolerate.

Once the waiter asked him what he wanted to order he snapped out of his train of thought and smiled at the waiter, "I'll have the personal serving of duck pizza." Corbin finally ordered. Joshua nodded, "I'll get your fresh bead sticks out to you very shortly." He assured before quickly scampering away to another table. Corbin returned his gave to Peyton and smiled lovingly at her, stroking her hand with his thumb.

"Soooo....about that gift you mentioned earlier?" Corbin asked not so subtly with a goofy grin on his face. The features on his face hardened briefly before looking to Peyton again. He reaalllllyyyyy wanted to give her the ring now, even though they'd agreed on it after dinner. The ring felt heavy in his pocket.

"I know we made an agreement on the gift giving, but I just can't wait, I'm sorry babe." Corbin apologized, reaching into his pant pocket and pulling out a small blue box, holding it out to Peyton.

With the waiter gone, Peyton was able to return her gaze to her boyfriend. She loved the feeling of her hand in his and she could barely take her eyes off of him. She'd almost forgotten about their agreement. Fortunately, at no surprise to her, Corbin had it covered. Peyton smiled and shook her head. Of course Corbin couldn't wait and she didn't blame him. He'd been showering her with gifts all night and she hadn't even given him his yet! Unless seeing her in a nice outfit counted, which it may or may not have.

"I think we can arrange that," she agreed with a smile. She leaned down to reach under the table to grab the gift bag, which had been resting securely next to her feet. She reached towards it with her free hand, not wanting to let go of Corbin's from across the table. Then she heard him speak again. "What are you talking about hun?"

When she sat back up straight with the gift bag in hand, she blinked and her jaw dropped lightly to see a small blue box. Peyton blinked once, trying to think of something - anything - to say. No. No way. He was not.... This wasn't.... Was this why the night was so beyond amazing? The box was small enough to only hold one thing. Was he...was he going to propose? No, she had to be getting ahead of herself. Somehow Peyton had always pictured him proposing when they graduated high school. And they'd get married right after finishing college. Probably. She wouldn't argue with sooner. But this...she felt her breath completely get caught in her throat. Her heart was pounding and she couldn't even begin to comprehend what Corbin would actually say next. "What is....? Corbin..." she breathed, barely audible. How did he do that? How did he always manage to surprise her and take her breath away every time? How did he make her so excited over anything, no matter how big or small?

A smile tugged at the corner of Corbin's lips as he watched Peyton's awe-struck expression. She probably had a million questions going on in her head right now, and he wanted to make things clear. "Peyton Monique Paulson...would you do me the honor of wearing this promise ring-" He started, his voice serious and sweet. "-by wearing this promise ring I'll know that you will promise to love me forever." Corbin finally finished as he opened the small box to show the gorgeous, and costly ring he had picked out for Peyton.

She still seemed speechless, but Corbin took that as a perfect opportunity to slip it on her ring finger gently. "Wow...it looks stunning on you babe." Corbin said almost breathlessly. This was a huge step of commitment for the both of them and Corbin couldn't have been any happier to give the ring to someone he loved dearly.

His eyes looked down to the gift bag in her lap and smiled once again.

Peyton felt as if her heart was going to pound out of her chest. He was enjoying this wasn't he? Corbin loved it when he couldn't get a response out of Peyton. Only he could make that happen. She was completely surprised and caught off that Corbin would go to this length. That they would actually be promised to each other before even getting engaged. It was mind blowing. It was heart racing. It was...she could not have asked for any better. The way he spoke with such seriousness and sincerity...it almost made Peyton's eyes well up. He really thought all of this though. The gifts...the place...the ring. This whole night was about this moment. She just wished that she could bring herself to actually speak. She wanted to...but nothing would come out. Fortunately Corbin didn't need to hear it for himself. He already knew. Just like he knew everything about her.

She managed to bring her eyes down, watching him slip on the ring himself. It really was gorgeous. The way it was set, the way it sparkled under the light, the way that he found a ring that looked like it meant something so great even if it wasn't the flashiest thing ever - because he knew Peyton would never willingly show off something like this. Oh, now her gift really couldn't compare! She was so going to tease him about this one day! She heard his words. As meaningful and loving as they always were. Slowly she returned her gaze back to Corbin. Even though her surprised reaction, there was nothing but happiness gleaming in her eyes. Peyton was never one to be crazy about PDA. But tonight was one of the exceptions.

Placing the gift bag on the table, she rose from her seat and walked to Corbin's side. She sat in his lap and placed her hands on the back of his neck, her fingers right against the edges of his hair. She rested her forehead against his and looked into his eyes. "Yes," she answered softly with the biggest smile on her face. "Yes, of course!" The excitement and realization of this was slowly rising up and making its way into her voice as well. She could barely even put into words what she was thinking. What did someone even begin to say when the love of their life was asking to promise themselves? "There is no better guy out there for me. I don't...I can't...picture myself with anyone else. I have loved you for two years, Corbin. That will never change. Not now, not any time soon, not ever. I love you. And I'm yours."

The feeling of Peyton's forehead pressed against his was incredibly intimate. He felt the warmth of her breath as she spoke to him. Corbin could feel his heart strings tugging, but he wasn't going to cry in front of all of these people. Having Peyton in his lap felt comfortable, and he didn't care that people stared at them. They were too into each other to notice the grimaces of other customers.

"You're the only girl I'll ever need or ever want in my life, Miss. Paulson. And just you wait, when high school is over I'll have an even bigger surprise for you." Corbin assured with a half grin. He held his arm around Peyton's waist to support her and reached for her bag of gifts. He turned to look at Peyton with a raised brow his look asking "may I open my gift now?" and with no opposition from Peyton he reached for the bag and pulled out the first key chain. Wow sterling silver....that must have cost her a pretty penny. He chuckled when he saw his team number engraved into the key chain. Reaching his hand in the bag once more he pulled out a second key chain, this one with the words "Teamwork. Commitment. Success" and his name engraved in it.

He rested the gifts back into the bag and turned to Peyton who still sat in his lap, pulling her in for a passionate, but appropriate kiss. "I love these babe...you know me so well. How did I get so lucky."

Everything about their fit was perfect. The way they were gazing into each others' eyes and grinning widely. The way their bodies pressed against each other in a way that was comfortable without needing to lead to anything. The way that Peyton felt like she was burning when Corbin put his arm around her because it was such a comfortable fit. She never felt more at home than when she was in Corbin's arms. And she could tell by his eyes what her words meant to him. That every loving statement she said to him was absorbed by his entire being and he tried to give back twice as much. To even begin to describe what this man meant to her was beyond her. Even if they were only fifteen, Peyton knew this was what she wanted. And despite their ages, she always knew that Corbin was the definition of what a man should be. Caring, protective, loving, not to mention handsome.... She could not be more honored to call him hers.

She had no doubt that Corbin would have something planned for her come graduation. She was looking so forward to it and how the rest of their lives would officially start together. To hear it from Corbin himself was like catching lightning. Knowing that finding this one person was all she needed to be happy. She gave a nod, knowing Corbin was eager to see his own gift. As he opened it Peyton couldn't resist placing a few soft kisses on his cheek. She didn't care for once that people were watching and she didn't care what they thought. The only thing - the only person - she cared about was right in front of her. She pulled away from his cheek when she felt his face turn back to her. He loved them. She hoped she would. Just like she knew he loved driving. And playing football. And her. All those little pieces of Corbin she loved so much, that she knew he loved, were poured into something he could hold in his hand. "There's also a couple of CDs in there. Your favorite playlists," she spoiled softly. "One of our songs is your number, too."

She couldn't erase the smile that continued to grace her face. He meant everything to her. So when he pulled her in for a kiss, she returned it with just as much passion. Every time they kissed she wanted it to be filled with love. Whether it was a few soft kisses or one of their occasional makeout sessions, every one felt perfect with him. She knew that sometimes Corbin would like more than that. If she were being honest, sometimes Peyton thought about going further, too. But that wasn't what their relationship was about. They didn't always need that kind of physical level to show each other how much they cared, let alone to prove their love. Even without taking that kind of step, both of them knew they were with the right person. Peyton couldn't resist lightly pressing her tongue against his lips, wanting to taste more of the man she would one day call her husband. One of her hands slowly trailed down the back of his neck to rest against his chest, where she was sure she could feel his heart beating in harmony with hers.

No matter how many times he thought it, he could never get over how amazing this girl in his lap was. She was the absolute life and he respected her like she ought to be respected. Corbin was honestly the luckiest guy in the world. Usually he didn't believe in the corny 'love at first site' chatter, but as soon as he laid eyes on her in their 8th grade drama class he knew that he wanted to treat this girl like a Queen. The gentle kisses on Corbin's cheek made his stomach fill with butterflies. That feeling would never go away when he was with Peyton. He was so in love with her and didn't care if people said that they were too young to be this into each other. They had an amazing relationship filled with cuddling and communication. Sure from time to time Corbin had the typical teen male urges, but he respected Peyton too much to push her into anything uncomfortable for her.

Corbin fished deeper in the gift bag to find a few mix tapes. Oh he was definitely going to tease her for this. "Are we in the nineties or something?" He commented, his tone playful. He took his time to look over the CDs before smiling back at the beauty that he called his girlfriend.

"I love every single gift, love. You're so perfect...and don't worry I'll make sure to blast one of these CDs when we're on the drive to Shyanne's party." Corbin confirmed. As much as he didn't want this night to end and as much as he just wanted to spend the night watching movies, cuddling and eating popcorn with Peyton, he felt a slight obligation to attend the party because he was on the football team after all. Luckily both he and Peyton had a higher status so no one would say anything to them. It almost felt as if it were just them here in this moment, but they were interrupted by the annoyed looking waiter, Joshua, bringing them there food.

"Don't worry, there will be plenty of more time for snuggling when we get back home." Corbin assured with a wink to Peyton as Joshua placed their food in front of them.

Peyton couldn't help but let out a soft giggle. "Honey, your Ipod would need to be charged at some point. And when you don't have it in your car with you, that's what the CDs are for." Although that probably wouldn't happen all too often, she thought it through. But the teasing was always a nice addition. She loved hearing his comebacks and little jokes; Corbin never ceased to put a smile on her face. And there was never a moment where the words 'perfect' and 'Peyton' didn't seem to cross Corbin's mind together. She would never let it go to her head nor did she argue with him. Instead she just smiled and moved her hand up to show the ring on her finger. "We're perfect," she corrected with a smile.

It didn't surprise her that they would try to make it to Shyanne's party after dinner, even for a short amount of time. Peyton wasn't necessarily opposed to it. She wasn't much of a party girl but she wasn't going to turn down a fun night with her friends. And anyway how would it look if anyone from that particular crowd didn't show up? She knew that Corbin would want to go both out of obligation and to spend time with his friends. He really hated letting people down. There were just so many things she could list that she loved about this man. Part of Peyton inquired what Peyton would think about her promise ring. She'd either be jealous that she didn't have a guy for herself (yet) to get anything that nice or state that it wasn't big enough but it was 'cute'. Just as long as she and Corbin really would have enough time to cuddle afterwards, that's all she cared about.

When their waiter managed to get their attention and placed their food on the table Peyton lightly shook her head. She kept her gaze on Corbin and couldn't help but feel like a giddy schoolgirl when he winked at her. Well...she kind of was a giddy schoolgirl. But he made those feelings stronger and stronger every time. She doubted those feelings would ever go away. If only she didn't have to move! If it were up to Peyton she'd just stay in Corbin's lap staring at him all night. Screw the restaurant or the waiters. "I hope so," she grinned. Slowly, she forced herself to stand up and return to her seat, though her eyes remained on her love. She reached across the table again to hold his hand, barely wanting to be the slightest bit away from him tonight. "Thank you hun. And not just for tonight. Everything you do. For being in my life. My rock. My supporter and confidante. My best friend. And the most amazing guy most girls could only dream of." She gave his hand a gentle squeeze. "To two amazing years."

The glow that Peyton emitted made Corbin feel so proud of himself for being able to impact the love of his life in the most positive way possible. He returned her gentle hand squeeze and smiled at her lovingly. Any by-stander could see that these two teens were absolutely head over heels for each other, and it was true. "To two amazing years and many more." He added giving Peyton's hand another gentle squeeze. As much as he didn't want to break the connection of their hands, they did need their hands to eat. Gently he pulled his hand away from Peyton's and took a slice of his pizza off of his plate before placing it on Peyton's plate.

"We might as well try duck pizza together." Corbin said with a grin. He wasn't sure what duck would taste like..he assumed it would be similar to chicken. Others would probably think it was lame of him to want to try a new food with his partner, but he didn't care what others thought. Everyone was going to have an opinion and Corbin didn't want to hear any of it.

"You down, babe?" He asked with a raised brow.

It was like he could read her mind. Their first anniversary together the year before had been incredible. She could still remember it perfectly. He had told her to meet him at the park. It was just before dusk so they were able to watch the sunset together. He then surprised her with a picnic, the always-necessary bouquet of flowers and a necklace - still one of her favorites from him to wear. To top it off, Corbin had set up his iPod to play one of their playlists and they had proceeded to carve their names into a nearby tree. Peyton had no idea what could possibly top that. And somehow, tonight Corbin did. If the first two years were this incredible she could only begin to imagine what every year after would be like. She couldn't be more excited to find out what it would be. She knew one thing for sure; every following year would be better than the one before because they would add a new memory together.

As much as she didn't want to be the slightest bit separate from him, Corbin did have a point. They did need to eat. She was about to pick up her fork when Corbin placed a pizza slice on her plate. Raising an eyebrow she placed her fork down and picked up the pizza slice. "We're really going to do this aren't we?" She had never tried duck before either. And aside from the occasional pepperoni, Peyton really preferred her pizza plain. But who was she to turn anything down by her guy? "Alright. But you also get a forkful of my pasta. You should get at least a little something in return." Not giving Corbin the option to decline, she continued. "We'll try on three. One...two...three." She bit into her slice the same time that Corbin bit into his. Peyton squinted and scrunched her nose a little. Well. That was.... Interesting. It...kind of left an odd sensation on her tongue. "Wow. Wow..." She placed the slice back on her plate and lightly shook her head. If she finished the slice, it would definitely be without the duck! Hopefully the remnants wouldn't be as questionable as the actual thing. "I'm sorry hun, but I think this just made the top three questionable pizza toppings. It's right up there with bacon and broccoli." She couldn't help but laugh a little at herself, knowing Corbin was enjoying watching her reaction.

Corbin grinned, "Fair enough." He replied as Peyton counted down from three. They each took a bite of their slices and Corbin chewed thoughtfully. He couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction once he swallowed his bite. It wasn't bad at all...it tasted more like turkey than chicken. He shook his head, the grin still on his face. "Oh c'mon babe, it wasn't that bad. Tastes like turkey." He explained, going in for another bite of the pizza. Even if it wasn't his favorite thing to eat, he was paying twenty dollars for this duck pizza so he was going to eat every last bite.

"Bacon on pizza is a classic, but I'll agree with you on broccoli as a topping. That's just weird." Corbin agreed, taking his fork and leaning over to get a forkful of Peyton's pasta as promised. It was pretty good compared to what he had ordered. He made a mental note to stick with something familiar next time they went out to eat.

"So, by the time we get to the party, how drunk do you think everyone is going to be?" Corbin asked with a playful grin. "And do you plan on drinking at all?" He added. If Peyton was going to drink, Corbin was going to have to be extra protective of her for the night.

"No, you're right. The broccoli is way worse," Peyton acknowledged. Sadly, she has tasted worse things. But duck pizza...it was unique all right! She raised an eyebrow at her boyfriend, "Turkey? Really? I don't taste it. Are you sure your tongue's ok, hun?" Oh no, she didn't bite it too hard during that one heated makeout did she? That probably wasn't it. But hot foods messed with taste buds, maybe biting did, too! She tried not to let that thought get to her head and instead took a sip of her seltzer. Better not get any ideas. She couldn't help but smile watching Corbin try her pasta. She had kind of wanted to feed it to him herself, but there would be another time for that!

Then an idea crossed Peyton's mind. "You really think so?" she teased lightly with a playful smirk. "Well then, how about we make this a little more interesting?" She picked up a few pieces of her pasta with her fork and placed it on her slice and then did the same for Corbin's. "Let's see what happens when we mix the two of them together. Think you can handle it?" She knew he could. She just wanted to see his reaction. Peyton picked up her slice again and slowly placed it to her mouth, waiting for Corbin to do the same. When he did they bit into their slices in unison. Peyton allowed the very different flavors to settle on her tongue before swallowing. And surprisingly, her reaction was not as bad - which also meant it wasn't as entertaining - as the first time. "You know what? That actually tastes better this way. It's even cheesier than before and the extra sauce really balances out the duck." No, Peyton probably wasn't the exact definition of normal. What kind of person actually sort of enjoyed pasta-on-duck-on-pizza? If that was even what to call it? But Corbin tried plenty of new things all the time. She could, too. It just so happened that sometimes her tastes really were more unique. And she had to admit, watching him eat this new pizza creation was a sight to see!

Peyton blinked at his question. "I think the better question is, how many people will actually be sober? People go wild at high school parties because they can drink at not get caught. Plus, there are probably going to be a lot of hookups. We could be walking into a game of strip poker for all we know." Actually, she really hoped that wasn't the case. It wouldn't surprise her...but she really didn't want to watch that. Peyton took another bite of the pizza before placing it down and starting on her salad. "Oh, not at all," she shook her head. "I want to remember this night. Every detail...." She paused and thought over her statement. Did that meant even the really drunk classmates that would be all over each other? Then again, it would technically be part of the anniversary night. She held in a sigh. "Yeah, every detail." She took a couple bites of her salad before tilting her head and raising an eyebrow curiously. She knew Corbin was responsible and wouldn't purposefully do anything to get anyone in trouble. And although his alcohol tolerance was higher than Peyton's, she was pretty sure he'd drink a little something. Maybe just enough to be polite, but definitely not enough for a high BAC. "What about you? Is tonight going to be the night I need to put my driver's ed class to the test?"

Corbin couldn't help but chuckle at Peyton's concern over the condition of his tongue. It was silly, but the fact that Peyton cared so much for him made him feel truly special. It was one of the qualities that he really loved about her. "We just have different pallets babe, that's all-" He started, and as if reading her mind, "-I don't think you injured it." He finished with a smirk. He nodded as she placed a forkful of pasta onto his pizza. Corbin had enjoyed macaroni and cheese pizza before, so this pasta on pizza thing wouldn't be so far fetched.

He took a bite at the same time as Peyton and chewed the bite thoughtfully. It was one of those weird, but good flavor combinations. Leave it to his awesome girlfriend to make something amazing without realizing it. "Hmm...you know what? You should definitely minor in culinary arts...or just compete on a food network show." Corbin said sincerely, taking a sip of his drink to wash down the food.

"You're right...there's no way Shyanne would let that party get busted." Corbin nodded in agreement, he cringed a bit at the thought of walking in on a game of strip poker. He wasn't comfortable with the idea of seeing his drunken teammates in their boxers even though he had seen them in less in the locker room.

Corbin shook his head, "No ma'am...I'm staying as sober as a judge. I don't want to forget this night either, buuuut maybe I'll let you take my car for a spin...just for practice."He replied with a wink at the end.

Peyton stopped questioning a long time ago how Corbin knew exactly what she was thinking. She tried not to let her face get too flushed over it, especially since it really did sound silly. Though she did attempt to cover it up by playfully sticking her tongue out at him.

Peyton watched the gears in Corbin's head turn as he chewed on the slice. While not exactly a silly expression, Peyton just found something about Corbin's thinking face absolutely adorable. She let out a small giggle at his response and shook her head. "And miss sharing all those theater classes with you? Honey, you worked way too hard to convince me to study theater with music. Besides if I did go on a cooking show when would I get to see you?" Really, Peyton had never been too much into cooking. Maybe it was just a thing in her family, for the women with some Italian heritage to be able to cook. Peyton didn't question it. And besides, it would take a ****load for Corbin to hate anything Peyton did. If that.

She couldn't help but somewhat enjoy watching Corbin cringe at the thought of walking into strip poker. She was sure it was pretty safe to say that Corbin would want to see Peyton's butt before another girl's. The football players, however, were a different story. Peyton didn't particularly want to remember some random guy's Spongebob boxers on her anniversary night. And yes, she was positive a few of the guys still watched that show. If they walked into a scene like that, maybe they really would need a few shots to wipe their memories. Admittedly though, Peyton was glad to hear Corbin had no intentions of drinking either. She raised an eyebrow at the prospect of driving Corbin's car as she placed a few tomatoes into her salad. He loved that car and drove it every chance he got. "And what would I give you in return?" she inquired innocently. Other than the satisfaction of Corbin still holding the title of Best Boyfriend in the Universe, of course. But that went without saying. Actually, that made her wonder.... Peyton took a bite of her pasta and glanced down at her ring. Well, they weren't engaged, technically pre-engaged. So she wouldn't refer to Corbin as her fiancé but he was definitely more than just a boyfriend. "So should I be preparing to change my social status on Facebook?" she wondered curiously, though holding a playful grin. "Somehow I don't think I should continue to refer to you as just my boyfriend." She was serious about him. They were serious about each other. They knew that. Peyton was pretty sure their friends knew that. So maybe there should be a specific term to back it up; she was fairly certain there wasn't a word in existence yet. And even if there was, it probably wouldn't be enough to describe the love that Corbin and Peyton had for each other.

Corbin loved to hear the sound of Peyton's giggles, especially if they were geared towards something goofy he'd said or done. He must have had a funny thinking face on while he chewed his second bite of his duck and now pasta pizza. He swallowed the bite, "You're just so talented...I'm the luckiest man on Earth to be able to see all of these talents." Corbin replied, Peyton had never ceased to amaze him. Everything she did, especially the things she held so much passion in, made her even more attractive to Corbin. He couldn't help himself from looking into her eyes as she spoke, man he could just get lost in them as cliche as that sounded.

He put on a face as if to seem like he were deep in thought when Peyton asked what she could give in return. Her love, hugs, and kisses was all that Corbin would really ever ask of her. She was always enough and more than enough for him. "I'm leaning towards a lot of cuddling...hmmm." He replied before taking a sip of his drink, his eyes still on hers.

"I'm sure Facebook has a lot of options, and if we find something I would love to change our status, but if there isn't-" Corbin started, "-you can still show off your new ring to everyone and brag about how amazing your boyfriend is." He finished, playfully adding the last words.

It didn't seem to matter to either of them what the other said or did. The little things, all the quirks, everything in between, they just loved everything about each other. Saying it would take a ****load for one of them to hate the smallest thing about the other really was an overstatement. Anytime Peyton's typical teenage mood swings or hormones or whatever they were put a thought in her head, Corbin dismissed it immediately. "What about you? Dancing, football, acting, finding an adventure in everything, creating the perfect date nights, not to mention you could lift something twice as heavy as me without breaking a sweat.... To say anyone can hold a candle to you gives everyone else too much credit," Although Peyton really wouldn't say that to someone's face unless they deserved it. And she would never for a second want Corbin to not see all the amazing things in him because he was too busy seeing things in Peyton she didn't even know existed.

She met his gaze and grinned at his suggestion. Damn hell if she'd ever turn down cuddles with Corbin. Even when she was sick and would hesitate because she knew it would get him sick it was hard for Peyton not to cuddle with him. "I think that can be arranged," she grinned coyly taking another fork of pasta to her lips. She only wished they didn't need their hands for eating so she could reach across the table and hold his again. "Maybe we need to arrange another sleepover so we can have plenty of cuddling time..." She knew Corbin would definitely like that idea!

Facebook definitely had a lot of options to choose from. And while Peyton would change her status on whatever other social sites she had, Facebook was obviously the big one. How many guys online, let alone even at just Metric, would be as eager as Corbin to change their status to something so serious? Peyton heard her grandma listen to reality or trash tv and, fake or not, it was probably true in that so many men, or maybe just people in general, tried to keep their online profiles as if they were single. Heck, a lot of teenagers just wanted to be single and mess around. Corbin and Peyton were different. No matter how many times she thought this, no matter how obvious it was that it was her reality, sometimes it just blew Peyton's mind. In the good way, naturally. How many other people could even be half as lucky? Why didn't everyone else get to be this lucky? "Somehow I doubt anyone would want such an amazing gift rubbed in their faces," she stated. Although Peyton was definitely not going to bring this up at Shyanne's party. To take attention away from her on her night would be kind of low. Even if Shyanne had attention on her all the time, it still wouldn't be right. Robby would probably make some off-handed compliment as well. And anyone who was there was a couple, what if the girl were to get mad at the guy for not getting her something so beautiful? But if anyone did happen to notice the ring and make a compliment, as if Peyton would just brush it off like it was nothing! She grinned playfully and tilted her head. "I'm sorry, who's this amazing guy I'm bragging about?" she teased.
