Finally! It was Friday! The day of the first dance of the school year! For weeks, the campus had been abuzz with talk of it. It had taken quite a bit of prep, and eventually, a theme had been agreed upon. It was simple, and didn’t really stand out. As usual, the main focus was on the dresses and the food.
The night was actually very good for pictures and for travel—it was cool, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The half-moon shone brightly on the school’s dance studio, in which the dance was set up. Streamers, stereos, tables, and a snack table were all set up, with plenty of room left over in the center for the dance floor to be vast and inviting.
Susan was there, of course, she’d come about a half hour early with Arthur in tow. As a chaperone, Susan was expected to be there early. She was in a long, dark blue dress that matched the color of her eyes. Around the belt was a silver parallel lined chain, adding a small bit of flair to the dress. The dress cut down into a v shape, and the shoulder straps wrapped around her neck.
Around her neck was a simple silver chain, and on her left wrist there was a silver bracelet. On her feet were a pair of mostly flat, slightly elevated silver shoes, which peeked out of the bottom of her dress when she walked. Arthur was her ‘date’, clothed in a pair of black slacks, a white shirt, and a tie that matched her dress. His sleeved were rolled up to his cuffs and he was currently occupying a table, Susan sitting across from him. It was finally time other people would be arriving,
Another chaperone was Ms. Davis, who was dressed in a very plain grey dress, with a low breast line. There was a diamond shape at the bottom of her hemline, and her skirt reached her knees. What took some by surprise were her heels, though—they were large, thick, and blue with a pink stripe across the middle. She was in the back, reading a book. Ms. Davis wasn’t one for organized parties, so she was planning to just keep to herself all night. Her hair was shaggy, white, and short, as usual, and her earrings were large blue hoops, and the rest of her earholes were filled with smaller, pink earrings to match her shoes.
One of the first to arrive was Amy O’Neal, excited for the dance. She was in a short, plum colored dress and a pair of golden flats that had obviously seen better days. She wanted something she could dance in, because she had every intention of dancing. Amy waved politely at the teachers and other students before she took a seat, waiting for someone she knew. She took a seat at an empty table, rocking her head to the beat.
Amy’s long, wild hair had been pulled back into what looked like a half up, half down style. Her hair was out of her face, a fact she was thankful for. Her hair tie was the same shade of plum as her dress—which brought out the darkness in her skin-tone nicely.
Amy sighed and propped an elbow up on the table and rested her cheek in her palm, already forgetting about her makeup and how too much hand to skin contact could ruin it.
Talya Harvall had occupied her bathroom for most of the day just to get ready. Although she really didn’t need that much time, to be honest. She just wanted to take a really long, relaxing bath, and then take her time applying makeup and doing her hair. She had virtually ignored her female housemate, Chardonnay, and her desire to use the bathroom until she was done.
Talya was in a long, flowing dress. It was white for the most part, and reached her ankles. However, the dress had almost a tie-dye effect—her bodice was half yellow, half purple, with a silver belt just below the chest. Since she wasn’t extremely busty, the belt was visible and the dress had a nice flow to it. Yellow extended down from the belt, and faded slowly into white. That white slowly faded into purple around the hem of her dress. On her feet were a pair of green ballet flats, something she’d pulled out of her closet. Her hair was in one long braid, with a few fake flower decorations stuck in.
Her makeup was done well—her eyes had eyeliner, mascara, and purple to yellow eye shadow that blended well together. She’d chosen shades that blended nicely with her skin, and brought out her dark eyes. Around her neck was a necklace, a cheap little thing with a moon shape in the center.
Talya entered the dance center, twirling on her toes. There was a low bass line playing, but it was a new pop song that Talya didn’t recognize. She stopped spilling and tiptoed to the side, walking all around the room, taking in the setup of the dance. She’d never seen it before, after all.
Todd was next to enter the dance studio. He was dressed in a white button down shirt and slacks, with no tie or vest. He noticed not too many people were here, but Susan waved brightly to him. He smiled back, she looked very pretty today. So did all the girls, actually.
Todd took a table, remembering that he had to regulate his food intake. He had to avoid snacks, and fries, and anything fattening. He’d have a balanced plate of…
….would a few snacks really be… all that bad? Gavin didn’t need to know about that… right? He’d look fine for his next photoshoot. Assuming Bandi didn’t poke out his other eye.
Todd’s eye was healed now, but he’d still missed the shoot. He sighed, staring at his hands, feeling depressed again. He knew Bandi meant well, but… he couldn’t forgive him for doing that. He just couldn’t. That was Gav—no, that was Todd’s—dream job.
"Everyone else should be arriving soon!" Susan said, beaming at Arthur. "Aren't you excited?"
Arthur gave her a blank look with one eyebrow raised. She'd dragged him here-- of course he wasn't excited.
"Yeah. Sure." He said, shaking his head. Susan smiled, and let her eyes filter to the door, as she tucked some more of her long hair into its bun.
