Kara was bent over a science book, with a packet resting on the page she wasn’t reading. While it might be more logical to study in the library Kara couldn’t be bothered to walk anymore, and right here worked fine.
Kara was wearing a baggy blue shirt that hung off of her shoulders and a pair of baggy blue jeans that had seen better days. Her dark hair was pulled back away from her face in a messy manner, strands of her thin and wiry hair sticking out of her head at odd angles. Kara had one tongue out as she worked, groaning under her breath in aggravation as she, somewhat unsurely, wrote down the answer she thought was right.
Kara leaned back on the bench and rubbed her eyes, stifling a yawn. The semester was only just starting but she was so overwhelmed by her classes already! Kara missed vacation. She was glad, though, that her house had settled down. After the incident with Arthur she was even more hesitant to allow a guy to live in their house, and almost begged for another girl instead of a boy.
Kara didn’t notice someone sit on the same bench she was at, sitting as far as possible away from her. Kara eventually looked back down at her work, only to see a pair of legs in her perephial vision. She looked to her left and made a disgusted face—there, sitting on the bench, was the root of all her problems.
Arthur was wearing a grey tee shirt and jeans, looking away from Kara and resting his chin in the palm of his hand.
“Go away.” Kara declared.
“I can’t. I’m waiting for someone.”
“Oh, you mean that wine girl you slept with?”
Arthur couldn’t believe that stupid rumor was still going. It was all Chardonnay’s fault for denying it so passionately.
“Don’t be stupid, idiot. We’ve never slept together and we never will.”
“You're a pig.” Kara retorted, to which Arthur loudly groaned. This bench was the only bench available at this location right now. Arthur couldn’t wait for Susan to show up so he could leave the company of Kara immediately. Kara, on the other hand, returned to her work with a frown, hoping that either he left soon or someone else came. If no one new came in five minutes, she resolved, she’d just leave.
