Name ||
Daphne Joelle La’Rochvoucault
Nicknames/Aliases ||
Daphne does not like nicknames, so she just goes by Daphne or Ms. La’Rochvoucault. She does not think her name is difficult to pronounce (though others do) so she insists on not going by any nicknames.
Age/Year/School ||
17, a junior at the High School. Her birthday was August 3rd.
Reason for Enrolling ||
Daphne is a dancer. Though she prefers classical dance, like ballet, ballroom, and tap, she’s taken classes in hip hip and street styles as well. Though she can do these dances she doesn’t like the provocative nature of many of the movements, but there are occasional moves that she finds that she likes and incorporates them into her own choreography, which is a mix of the classical moves she loves as well as different styles she’s picked up through other levels of dance. Daphne wants to be a choreographer and is excited that next semester, one of her teachers promised that she could teach a dance class of volunteer students.
Major/GPA ||
Usually the B-C range. Though Daphne’s academics grades are not as good as they could be due to the language barrier, Daphne’s outstanding performances in the dance program allow the school to give her a bit of slack when it comes to grades. Still, Daphne works with a French tutor every Thursday and Friday night to help her with her homework, and her grades never fall below a C.
Gender ||
Female
Sexuality ||
Demisexual

Job ||
None, however she volunteers at the library.
Reputation ||
Daphne is very quiet and doesn’t have much of a reputation outside of dance. She devotes all of her free time to practicing. She is known as an assistant in the library, the very tall woman who can often be found reading instead of putting books away. She’s not necessarily cold to those who approach her, but is very difficult to talk to and doesn’t make friends very easily.
Friends ||
Daphne finds it very hard to make friends. The closest she’s got to one would probably be Chase, one of the twins she finds herself living with. Initially she didn’t really care about either twin, but when he saved her cat Josue after Chance left the door open she gained respect for him.
When here in America, Josue is her best friend.
Daphne practices dances with Kier Aquino, after meeting him before he graduated the high school. He’s a good dancer and Daphne admires his dedication, hence why she asked him to partner with her when she practices duets.
She likes Miss. Emmet Tremaux, who is a French teacher at the school. Though she’s realitively new, Daphne feels comfortable going to her and asking for help translating something if she needs it.
Enemies/Rivals
Chance is probably her biggest enemy at the moment, because his ignorance and selfishness almost caused her to lose her precious cat.
When it comes to other dancers Daphne considers most rivals. Summer Jones and Max Carter are both talented dancers who’s she’s been in occasional classes with and considers them on par with her in skillset and likes to challenge herself by trying to best them and others like them. However she wouldn’t say she dislikes them – in fact, she respects them and likes to be met with fellow dancers with good skillsets.
Relationship Status ||
Single
Clubs and Organizations ||

Eye color/makeup preferences ||
Brown, and she usually applies makeup before shows but doesn’t always wear much on the daily. If she does it’s usually defining her eyebrows and adding a little nude color to her eyelids and mascara – unless it’s for a show, she likes to look more natural.
Clothing Style ||
Lacy, silk, ect. She liked clothes that are maneuverable and prefers skirts to shorts and jeans. Occasionally she will wear jeans though they’re never tight, always loose fit.

Family ||
Adrienne La’Rochevoucault – Mother – 38 – Secretary || Daphne’s mother was the one who worried most about Daphne’s emotional wellbeing before sending her off to Metric. Though Daphne’s always been an extremely stoic and unemotional girl, her mother always saw past that. Daphne loves and respects her mother a lot, and misses her more-so than her father.
Bernard La’Rochevoucault – Father – 37 – Banker || Daphne’s father is much like Daphne herself. Serious, stoic, and unemotional. Bernard wants the best for his daughter and Daphne respects that about him. It was Bernard who got Daphne into dancing and signed her up for the troupe that she was in until she reached 13. It was his idea to send her overseas to Metric Arts for her American freshman year of high school through her senior year of college. He insisted that the move would not only help her improve her dancing but also help her become bilingual in both French and English.
Josue La’Rochevoucault – Pet Cat – image || Josue is the only companion that Daphne brought over from France that is actually alive. Josue was a kitten when Daphne was 12, and she took the cat over with her in her freshman year. Her parents thought it would help her with loneliness—and they were right. Josue is Daphne’s pride and joy and every year she talks to housing to make sure that her cat is allowed. In her room Daphne has a corner devoted specifically for little Josue. Josue is an indoor cat and Daphne doesn’t like letting him out of the house, so she’s very adamant that all her housemates close the door whenever they enter or leave.

Backstory ||
Daphne was born and raised overseas in France. From a young age Daphne was always very flexible and talented at dancing. Her father, Bernard La’Rochefoucault, enrolled his daughter in a dance troupe when she was 6 years old. Daphne took to the troupe well and excelled better than all her peers. She took the class seriously and learned all she could from it, and by the time she was 8 years old Daphne was a natural leader in the troupe. She was helping improve the choreography and improving the aesthetics of the performance. Of course, in each of these improvements Daphne made herself the center of attention, much to the disapproval of her classmates, but all her teachers and especially her parents loved the way that Daphne was so talented and knew what she was doing. Though her teacher shad no idea Daphne was stealing the spotlight her parents did but they encouraged it, telling their daughter that to get anywhere in the world, you had to be assertive.
By the time Daphne was 12, Mr. La’Rochefoucault discovered a school for the arts that had a critically acclaimed dance program. He wanted Daphne to get the best of the best, and Daphne wanted the best of the best for herself. Daphne agreed to go to America for her studies but her mother was more reluctant to send her away—and a compromise was reached when Adrienne was allowed to buy her daughter a Norwegian forest cat, named Josue by Daphne. Josue immediately took to Daphne and she fell in love with the cat. He became her best friend and taught Daphne a sense of responsibility that she didn’t have before, learning to take care of the creature. She took Josue with her to Metric for some companionship.
When she first moved to America she found it very hard to fit in. Her knowledge of English, though good, was not good enough to be on par with her peers. In Academic classes she struggled and didn’t understand everything. What was worse was when her teachers found out and tried to make it a point to make her understand. It singled her out in classes and made her feel stupid when she didn’t, and the rest of her classmates rolled their eyes in boredom and stared at the clock. Daphne eventually stopped asking for clarification and instead spent extra time outside of the classroom trying to understand what it was she’d just learned. She got a French tutor, who helped her get through her notes and the slides. Still her grades rarely rose above Cs, and it made her angry.
The only classes Daphne excelled in were dance. She became top of her class in the program, learning the steps easily and paying extra care to learn from her teachers via visuals rather than by their words. If it wasn’t for her amazing skill at dance she would have been kicked out of Metric – but because of the language barrier, the Academy decided to give her a break.
Though it was kind of the school to let her stay, Daphne hated being given a ‘break’. She didn’t like feeling like she didn’t earn what she had. So because of that her freshman year was devoted to improving her English and dance skillset. She began volunteering in the library and when she had spare time she’d open a book and read it, or attempt to anyway, trying to string the words together in ways that made sense. She took extra care not to miss any classes and always had an English-to-French dictionary on her. She made no friends but didn’t mind. Her housemates included a set of twins who got on her nerves and one of who seemed to dislike her cat, Josue. But Daphne wasn’t going to send her cat back overseas, so she paid him little mind.
She improved with the help of teachers and professors and now can speak English pretty fluently. She still struggles in her classes, especially in History, her least favorite subject. Her grades are now Bs and Cs, and she wishes she could get the As she knows she deserves. She’s still one of the top dancers at Metric, and has been in many shows and now has met many other dancers who she considers rivals. Still she seems to have limited, if any, friends aside from her cat, and her parents are starting to worry about that and hope she can make some relationships while she’s still young and in a school setting when it’s easiest to connect to others.

Notes ||
- Though she’s been at Metric for years now, Daphne still struggles with the language because she’s not very good at learning languages – never been her thing. She speaks with a heavy French accent, one that is emphasized when she is angry and spews out a mix of English and French insults.
- Josue is Daphne’s beloved pet cat. Daphne is very attached to him, as he is the only ‘family member’ of hers that can join her at Metric during the school year. If Josue likes you Daphne will; if Josue dislikes you, Daphne will dislike you as well.
- Daphne’s first language is French, and in most instances, she will prefer to speak in French or use a mix of French and English words while trying to communicate.
- Daphne is also on the cheerleading team, but holds zero passion for the sport and often will abandon practices for the sake of her dance. She only joined because she figured cheering is similar to dance—though she’s growing to hate the atmosphere of the cheerleaders she associates with and will likely quit sometime this year.
- Daphne has very little patience for children and her peers. She prefers the company of older folks most of the time, or people who are mature for their age (as well as animals)
- The song lyrics are from Jet Lag by Simple Plan and Marie Mai.
