“Fuck! Stop hitting me!” Arthur hissed, using his other hand to hoist himself off. He wiped at his lower lip with his sleeve, face tinted red with anger, lips red with blood. He didn’t look up for a second, but when Amy kept silent, he looked up.

Amy was staring at them with wide brown eyes.

“Woah!” She exclaimed. “I had no idea you were in here! How long were—“

“We’ve been trapped since yesterday.”

“Oh.” Amy looked away with a slightly nervous sounding giggle. “Well, uh, sorry to interrupt, but Coach Fields kind of needs something from the storage unit!”

Amy stepped inside the stuffy unit wrinkling her nose. It smelled like sweat, cigarettes, and metal.

“You’re not interrupting anything!” Arthur snapped, but Amy just rolled her eyes in good humor.

“Suuuuure I’m not. A guy and a girl? Spending the whoooole night alone in the gym storage unit?”

She winked at both Arthur and Chardonnay, then laughed as she gathered the hurtles in her hands. Arthur’s nostrils flared in anger, and his cheeks went red for a completely different reason. he sent an annoyed glare Chardonnay's way, then his eyes flickered back to Amy.

“You’ve got that wrong!”

As Amy gathered the hurdles, she heard what sounded like a sick person wheezing beside her. She turned, to see who has spoken, and her eyes widened when she realized it was Chardonnay. Holy crap, her voice was gone! Amy jostled the shelf near her as she reached under it to get the last hurtle. It shook all the shelves above it, the added force of her messing with the lower ones.

“Wow. Your voice is gone. Must have been a—“ She was interrupted when a shoe fell onto her head. “Ow! Is this…”

She abandoned the hurtles to grab the shoe. She saw it matched Chardonnay’s other one, and snorted, offering it to her. “And your shoe wound up way up there! That must have been a really wild night!”

“No!” Arthur snapped. “I threw her damn shoe up there because she hit me with it!”

“Okay.” Amy said, although her tone sounded disbelieving. “But uh, lucky for you it wasn’t Coach Fields who came in here! You'd be in a lot of trouble!”

“We didn’t do anything! We got locked in here! Unintentionally!”

“Okay.” Amy said again, her tone one of mock-belief. “Well, you’re out now, right? And don’t worry! I won’t tell a soul!”

Arthur doubted that. From what he’d seen of Amy O’Neal, she was a blabbermouth.

Wow, this girl sure was rude! Amy made a slight face when Chardonnay called her a bitch. She didn’t usually find herself subjected to that word, but she supposed she couldn’t get away with a clean slate forever! In fact, so far the only person who had treated her so rudely this year was Arthur, who was still glaring at her.

Amy snorted.

“Oh! Oh, wow! I really hope you two never have kids, because they’d be like… the rudest kids alive! But at least you two suit each other.”

Amy hoisted the hurdles into her arms, and turned around.

“See, I wasn’t going to say anything, really, but I mean, I’m a bitch.” She emphasized, as though quoting Chardonnay. “And the bitch thing to do is to gossip! Right?”

“It’ll get you punched in the fucking throat!” Arthur snapped. Amy blew a raspberry at him.

“I dare you! Come and get me, and get expelled while you’re at it!”

Arthur’s face grew into a nasty grimace. She was right. He couldn’t risk Susan getting fired over Arthur causing a scene. She had enough on her plate as it was.

He instead just stood up and brushed past Amy, making a point to bump her shoulder with his even though it probably hurt him more than it hurt her.

“We didn’t have sex!” Arthur snapped. “Fuck you two, I’m going to my room!”
