Ms. Summers was extremely happy about how the dance had gone! However, after the dance there was always the painfully annoying task of cleaning up. Most of the supplies would be stored in the gym’s storage unit, so the major problem was getting the things from the dance center to the storage unit. After all, they needed to have the dance center clear as soon as possible for their dancing students!
Ms. Summers had rented a small cart, which could transport most of the things. She drove it, made sure it was loaded, and parked beside the gym while the students volunteering lugged the things from the cart to the storage unit, and back and forth, and back and forth.
To attract help, Ms. Summers had offered extra credit—a 100 on a quiz grade—to anyone who came.
There were quite a few people here already. Susan had the first load in her cart, which was already parked by the gym. She was in a pair of jeans and a blue tee shirt, with her long dark hair drawn back in a ponytail.
Of course Arthur was here too—his arms folded in front of his chest and a scowl on his lips. He wore a black tee shirt, with a red plaid shirt unbuttoned halfway over it. He was also wearing jeans and a silver locket, which stood out against the black of his shirt. There was also a dark skinned girl who seemed to be staring off into space, her hands clasped behind her back. She was wearing a very nice sundress with a pastel brown sweater over it.
Susan saw other faces too, and waved to them. She recognized a few strong boys who were flunking her class with a smile. They’d be a big help!
“Hello, everyone! Thank you for coming to help! Is everyone here?”
She scratched the back of her neck, scanning the group. In her other hand was a clipboard, with a pen and paper attached.
