Shyanne had known Ron for about a year, since she was a sophomore and he was a junior. Ever since she had first gone to his pool house in Salem, located down the street and to the left of the academy, she thought it was gorgeous. And would make a beautiful venue for the annual mid-semester bash usually hosted by the homecoming princess announced at the beginning of the year.
Of course, Shyanne hadn’t won homecoming Princess. However the girl who had was a total nobody – rumor had it she transferred out of the academy – and Shyanne basically considered herself the Princess by default. And not one to leave that as it was, she had taken it upon herself to be the Princess she was always meant to be.
Which led her to here, at 8 PM on a Friday night, standing at Ron’s pool house in her dress and wedges. Shyanne had no intention of going swimming but she knew plenty of people would. She would admire the boys from the view from the inside of the pool house. Ron was there – he’d provided some beer as well (though the majority of the event was BYOB) – and sneaking peeks at her rear. Shyanne wasn’t oblivious to it, flirting with the guy was how she’d gotten permission to host the party at his pool house. She sure as hell wasn’t about to risk campus police wrecking the party, right?
From the speakers, the latest pop played. Shyanne had the football team help her move the table out in the small area under the arch, which became the dance floor. The center room was opened up and people came and went inside of it. There were chairs pushed up against the wall and people were already sitting on the furniture, giggling and laughing the night away. To the far left were some munchies and the cooler of beer and non-alcoholic drinks Ron had provided.
Shyanne popped a Mike’s Hard Lemonade as she looked around the venue and greeted people who came in. There were no guards, per say, but she did have the football team wandering around the venue and kicking out anyone who was too much of a loser, or too much of a pest. As of now, Shyanne was looking for one of two people – the hot college guy she’d invited, Lance, or Rylan, her friend who she didn’t want to leave alone to be snatched up by some other girl who was less pretty than her and less cool as her, some girl who would try to seduce him and make him her boyfriend. Puh-lease. Shyanne would not let that happen. Rylan was her Ryan! And she was not going to give him up easily!-x-
Savannah didn’t know how she felt about coming to this party alone. She’d originally planned to go with Parker, but he was busy. That depressed her, but at the same time, she was trying her best to become more social. A party... was a good way to do that, right? Besides, Parker had told her to look for Shyanne (the person who had invited them) if she needed some help.
Savannah had her dark brown hair pulled back into a ponytail nd a little more makeup on than she usually did. Walking through the grass, she saw the pool to her side and blinked. Oh, there was a pool? She wished she’d brought swim clothes! Then again – she watched as one boy loudly shouted “Cannonball!” and dove straight into the water fully dressed – apparently that didn’t stop some people!
She fiddled with the necklace around her neck, listening as a song she knew but didn’t listen to often played over the speaker. She watched as a few people started to dance. She wanted to join in but had no partner, sadly.
She really didn’t know what she was doing here. Savannah moved through the crowd and saw a familiar face – and her eyes lit. ”Shyanne! Uhm, hi!”
Shyanne turned around and gave her a once over – not looking impressed. Savannah bit her lower lip as she shifted from foot to foot. ”Sorry Parker couldn’t make it, uhm – “
”It’s fine. Just enjoy yourself!” Shyanne said too-sweetly, and just like that, she was gone to continue looking for Rylan or Lance. Savannah took a deep breath and moved towards the food, smiling at a few people, one of whom winked at her. She quickly looked away and pulled her phone out of her purse. She opened up her Pokemon GO app and waited for the page to load, and once it did, she was pleased to see that there were Pokemon nearby and her egg was close to hatching! She began to walk around, searching for the Pokemon she saw were close by. One was an eevee!-x-
”I’m telling you, Noah, Shyanne isn’t worth your time.” Cliff said to his best friend, but he knew that saying that would be pointless. Noah was obsessed with her and it made Cliff roll his eyes. Really hard.
Ever since the whole fiasco with Pippa actually being his cousin happened, Cliff found himself on the end of rumors – which were slowly dying, one by one. He and Pippa were in the same house and now closer than ever. It was amazing how easily Pippa fit into his and Noah’s dynamic duo. At first Cliff thought it’d be a problem that she was a girl, but she proved that was a stupid worry. She was funny, goofy, and just as ridiculous as he and Noah could get! Not to mention, they both had their objections with their families lately, objections that brought them together in ways they hadn’t initially thought they’d be brought together on.
Now they were planning to crash the annual mid-semester party Shyanne was throwing – and of course the only thing interesting Noah was ‘Shyanne’. Cliff however wanted a chance to make fun of the popular crowd – not to mention...
He glanced at his phone and saw the message from Cleo, saying she would be at the bash, and he exhaled. She’d be there... so he could meet her there. He wondered if she liked this kind of thing – he wondered if she would be noticed by the popular type guys – and that thought made his stomach squirm in knots.
Currently, the trio was right outside the venue, walking up to it. He could hear the bass from here – fortunately for the partygoers, they were surrounded by empty woods – and with every step closer they got the dumber he thought this was. The only appeal he saw was the pool, and even that he wasn’t about to dive into!
He led the way inside and was glad no football players paused to talk to them – he just turned to Noah and Pippa with a toothy grin. ”Just act natural guys,” He said, watching as Shyanne moved past a girl in a plaid shirt and towards the throng of dancing people. He added, ”...and try not to drool too much, Noah.”-x-
Ash didn’t like parties. The only reason she was going was her brother.
She knew he valued the opinions of this crowd way more than she did. Ash knew only a few people going that she liked – Cliff who was ‘crashing’ it, for one – and then Aiden. But, she figured, she’d humor him. She would otherwise stay at home and work on her fashion designs. She could sit and listen to some loud music and daydream for a few minutes. Perhaps she’d allow her mind to wander to the figures of the women dancing on tables and exposing themselves for pool time – but not for too long. She wouldn’t want to be a creep, after all.
She and Aiden had just arrived to the venue and Ash’s eyes went to the pool. She watched as a girl playfully splashed her friend who then splashed her back, the water glistening in the moonlight overhead and shining against their exposed cleavage. She looked away and beckoned Aiden forward.
”We are here. Did you want to avoid Shyanne, or are you planning to follow her around here too?” She asked, her tone dry but not necessarily accusatory. ”Half of these people are unfamiliar. I doubt anyone will recognize you.”
