Arthur walked out of the small little café in Salem with an almond flavored ice coffee in one hand and a small satchel in the other. He’d gone out to try and put a dent in his literature homework but it wasn’t much more progress than he’d made earlier. God. He fucking hated writing. He loved business courses and mathematics, but when it came to trying to analyze the works of literature that had existed for years before he’d even been conceived, he couldn’t do squat. They used too many words, tried to make everything too frilly, and if Arthur had to connect the animals in George Orwell’s Animal Farm to communism again, he was going to find a way to fling himself off of the empire state building.
The sun was beginning its decent in the sky and the sight was beautiful on Metric’s campus. Arthur liked to take walks across campus when he wasn’t being bothered by anyone or anything. Sometimes being alone with his thoughts was a bad thing, but when there was barely anyone out, it was fine. There was some event going on tonight he’d heard whispers of, but never cared to process. Most people were probably going to it, or getting ready for it right now. He did pass a few people, most of them sneered at him or rolled their eyes, but Arthur was used to it. After the last stupid event he’d had to go to, he’d made the biggest mistake of his life and made out with the school’s most annoying individual, and now he could no longer escape the rumors that he was sleeping with her. He supposed it could be worse. People could think he was as big a whore as his suitemate Chad was.
He made the turn towards the dormitories, looking over at the glittering building as the sun descended behind it. He was admiring the view when the doors opened and one of the last people in the universe he ever wanted to see exited. He rolled his eyes and was about to just shove past her, when she saw him and approached. Knowing there was no way out of this, Arthur exhaled and folded his arms across his chest, raising his brows over at Maxine.
”What do you want?” he asked. At least they were in public now. She couldn’t force him to touch her boob or make him feel threatened with rape here. Their suite still had the dent from Maxine – Arthur forced Chad to take credit for it, though – and he hadn’t seen her since she’d threatened him and tried to punch him. Ever since Chad had started to sleep with Mallory Abbott (the last person Arthur ever thought would sleep with him, but whatever) he hadn’t had Maxine over for whatever reason. Which he was thankful for.
While Chad and Mal got loud, unlike Maxine, Mal never sexually harassed him. Usually she ignored him. Which was more than he could ever say for Maxine.
