Parker Garcia. Generally just goes by Parker or Park.
His cheer team sometimes call him Garcia, but not that often.
14 years old, his birthday is the 19th August, a summer baby!
Straight, or at least he thinks so - but who wants to date at 14?! Definitely not Parker!
Parker is a fourteen-year-old student, attending Metric High School for his talent in dance, particularly hip-hop. He takes classes in dance and acting, but his main focus is dance. He wishes that he could sing so that he could be a triple threat, but you can't have it all! His goals are to be a featured dancer in music video/commercials, and to be on a TV show someday! Parker is also part of the cheerleading squad and he absolutely loves it. He loves being part of a team and working as a group who all want to achieve the same outcome - winning!
A lot of people tend to mistake Parker for being younger than he is. He has a babyface and hates it so much. The older girls in his dance class always tell him that he's 'cute', but he knows cute isn't something that a boy wants to be and they're just playing with him! He weighs around 110lbs, which isn't too heavy for a boy. He stands at 5'2", so he's not the tallest one around. In fact, most of the girls he knows are a lot taller than him. Although he isn't the heaviest or the tallest, his body is in proportion and he is actually very, very toned. He might look small and weedy, but definitely do not underestimate him! Parker can't wait for puberty to hit him properly, so that he grows into his features and actually grows, too. He always feels so dorky, especially with his teeth; he feels that they're too large for his face. He knows he won't be the tallest kid around, though. His parents are both quite short, he blames it on their Filipino genes!
He generally lives in Adidas sweatpants and plain t-shirts. He feels more comfortable this way and he definitely prefers comfort over style. His wardrobe may as well be sponsored by Adidas and Nike, because it's all he wears. Even if he is wearing jeans or something, he usually pairs it with a sports hoodie of some kind. He just hates the feeling of being dressed up.
Parker does have to wear make-up to some of his dance performances, but he generally doesn't mind that. He seems to get roped into having his make-up done by the girls quite often, making him look like a drag queen. He isn't bothered, though. He just finds it quite funny and also slightly therapeutic. It's like a mini facial massage, who wouldn't enjoy that?!
Parker is probably the happiest, smiliest face you could ever see around Metric. He loves having fun and is constantly up to something. He doesn't understand how you couldn't be happy here! It forever feels like one big sleepover, filled with people with amazing talents. How could you not want to be a part of something so amazing?! The way he see's it, these schools cost a lot of money - if you're not willing to put all the time and the effort in and enjoy it whilst you're here, what's the point in wasting that money and also wasting your talents?
Parker is often referred to as a real powerhouse and he can never sit still. Even in his dance classes he still has extra energy to burn off. When he is watching the other dancers perform, he is constantly moving his hands and feet, going over and over the motions before it's his turn to perform. Having all of this energy was the reason his parents first enrolled him in dance classes, to see if it would burn off some extra energy that he has. It didn't work, obviously, but Parker realised he really liked dance and stuck with it from being about 5.
Parker is generally very level headed and hates confrontation and arguments. He'd much rather just keep his opinions to himself and if he doesn't really like somebody, he just doesn't hang out around that person too much. He keeps his thoughts to himself as he finds it awful when people gossip about others, particularly now that the Metric Sweetheart is taking all gossip seriously.
Aprille Garcia. 41 years old. Doctor/consultant.
Aprille is the definite bread maker of the family. She works as a consultant in a hospital and holds a lot of responsibility for her patients, especially as she organises all of the tests, the operations and the medications. Parker doesn't see his mom as often as he would like to, due to her having a very demanding job. She is quite the opposite to Parker; she is generally stressed out a lot of the time and worries about things way more than she has to. Parker often jokes with her about her being a stress head, as annoying as that is to Aprille. He is very proud of his mom and reminds her of this all the time.
Ronnell Garcia. 44 years old. Stay at home Dad.
Ronnell has been a stay at home dad since Ruby was born. He was previously a head chef in a very expensive restaurant and had worked there for quite some time, but after Parker was born, he decided to drop his hours down and turn into a part-time chef, giving him time to look after Parker whilst Aprille was at work. Since Ruby was born, things were a lot more difficult for both Ronnell and Aprille to have time to look after the children. Parker and Ruby would spend a lot of time in after-school clubs whilst their parents were working, but Ronnell felt guilty on his kids. They realised that Aprille was bringing home more than enough money for the family to survive on, so he quit his job and spends all of his time with the kids and doing the housework. A lot of his friends rip him for it, but he'd much rather be at home with his kids.
Ruby Garcia. 8 years old. Student.
Ruby is just a minature version of Parker. Smaller and cuter, but the exact same personality wise. She also attends dance classes and Aprille forever wishes she would get interested in ballet or tap, but Ruby will only take classes in hip-hop and acro. She looks up to her big brother so much and one days hopes that she will be able to attend Metric, too. When they were both younger, they would perform shows in their living room for Ronnell and make him pay them both a dollar each for a ticket.
At only fourteen years old, Parker finds it hard to talk about his family background, purely because nothing exciting has happened so far. He has always lived what he would consider a very average life. He hasn't had any of the dramas of alcoholic parents or being adopted out, like a lot of people he knows have had. He has spent the whole of his life with his parents, attending school and dance classes. He is very thankful for his life being pretty average because it has suited him absolutely perfectly. He couldn't imagine how hard it must be for some of the kids that attend school here. It makes him sad how shitty some people's home lives actually are, but it explains why they're here. Why they have so much passion for what they do; it's an escape.
Deep down, he knows his life is not 'average'. He's incredibly lucky to get all of the dance training that he does and to be able to afford tuition at Metric isn't something that's easily done. He's very thankful that his parents have always been so supportive of his dance goals and career aims. He often see's dancers, especially males, who don't have a great relationship with their parents as they don't understand why they want to dance. Parker's parents understand it isn't a desire to dance, it's a need. It's something he has to do.
