Billie's Outfit | Billie's makeup (her hair is the same as the first image on her bio)

Today was the start of her assignment, something which Billie-Jean was looking forward to. It usually meant she was able to be very creative and hands on. She knew that this one had been set up differently, though. It was a group project, but with the older college students. That kind of worried her a little. She knew she had an exceptional talent, but these college kids had been here a lot longer than she had! She just had to hope that she could pull her weight and keep up, or that she wasn't paired with a lazy student who was going to make her do all the work!

She was one of the first to arrive to class today, a change for Billie. They weren't inside their usual room, the one with hundreds of different lipsticks and enough foundation to last a life time - along with mirrors and lights, but in a classroom. She realised it was going to be a project that needed a lot of brainstorming and planning, for them to be inside the classroom. She was handed a brown, paper envelope at the door, and before she was allowed in, she had to read what table she was assigned to and what her theme for her project would be. Her piece of card tucked inside the envelope simply said:

'Table 9. Indian Wedding.'

Her eyebrows creased downwards, almost meeting in the middle. She had never actually done Indian Wedding themed makeup before in her life. She was used to working with very dark colours, alongside the special fx makeup. It would definitely be a challenge for her! Now to see who she was paired with and how the makeup would suit them!

She headed into the classroom, to find nobody at her table yet. "Take your seats, guys, but don't start any planning before I explain your project." Called the teacher, repeating herself every so often as the new students filed into the room. She took one of the two seats, placing her notebook onto the table, tapping it absent-mindedly with her pen. She rested her dainty chin onto the palm of her hand, doodling on the front cover of her notepad, waiting for her partner to arrive.

Toni rose her brows as the thumbed at the index card she held in her hand and looked back at the teacher, blinking her, for once, uncovered eyes with a skeptical look. The woman smiled and shrugged her shoulders before she turned her attention to another student her entered into the room--a male, certainly a rarity in this field--leaving Toni to go find her seat as she baffled over the theme that she was given. Indian wedding. What did that even look like? What kind of hairstyles and makeup did Indian women wear when they were getting married? She knew nothing about other cultures other than that in India the woman didn't wear white dresses when getting married, meaning that the men didn't wear tuxedos like most American men did. So what did the women do with their makeup and hair then? Was their makeup subtle, leaving them more natural in the face, or was the makeup less subtle, right in people face with bright and dark colors?

She couldn't help but sigh as she pushed a few strands of hair behind her ear and looked up. There were already student in the room in their seats, some paired up and speaking with their partners, others sitting by themselves. Everyone in the class wore some sort of makeup, whether they were looking to make a statement or looking to be subtle, and hairstyles that were interesting, or a hair color that stood out among the general population around the town. No pores were seen. Nails and toes were done. Bright colored clothes were worn, along with an array of other colors. Interesting. But that was one of the things that Toni loved about this major, about this art, because while most pertained to the face and hair, people were still able to express themselves. She might have smiled at the thought if she wasn't so worried over the thought of working with a partner. What were they were supposed to do? Do each other's makeup and hair? No doubt she'd be paired up with a high school student--no that that was any put off to her, but it only made her more anxious. Most of these kids had an advantage over her. So many college students, and these high school students, had more real experience with the cosmetology world. They had been grooming their skills at an elite school while she had been stuck in a public school back in a small town where the population was barely over five hundred until she came out here for college.

No matter. She just had to try her hardest then, right?

Some of the high schoolers she recognized from the classes when she had been a model for Mrs. Pockets, the woman who, ironically, stood behind a desk directing students to their seats and telling them to not start on any plans until she was able to inform them about what the project was. When she and Toni made eye contract Mrs. Pocket gave a little wave, which Toni gave back, and turned to look back at the other students walking to their seats. She recognized some of the college students as well from her classes, as well as Professor Harden who stood beside Mrs. Pocket behind the desk. No doubt the two of them had been the masterminds of this project, but knowing their minds... This should be interesting.

Now, just to find her seat. She looked down at her index card and read the table number again before she picked her head up and started looking around, keeping her eyes off of people, keeping eye contact off. She pulled at the bottom of her shirt with her free hand before she saw the card placer that held her table number on it, someone already sitting at one of the chairs, a pretty girl with interesting hair that, oddly, Toni wanted to get her hands on and style. She shook her head, though, and breathed out a sigh. So, that must be her partner? Before she walked over there, Toni took the chance to examine her from a distance. Nice cheek and jaw bones, plump lips and pretty eyes. Pretty all around. Skinny, just like her. Hm. She walked over to the table and started shouldering off her backpack as she, finally, looked at the girl in the other seat. "Um, hi. I'm assuming that you're my partner. Table number 9?" She rose her brows in question before she sat down in the seat next to her. Confidence, as if she was meeting a client. Introduce yourself and don't become self conscious of your own looks. "I'm Toni Locklear. Junior at Metric College." She stuck her hand out. Professional, a little tense, but all around still good. Still there, she figured, though she always hated sticking her bony hands out to people. No no, no need to be self conscious. Just... You're fine, she told herself. She mustered up a smile to the girl finally.

Billie-Jean hadn't been sitting at the table for too long before she could feel eyes on her. She had been texting Kier, telling him what her project theme was this week. She looked up, greeted by a girl who was a lot taller than she was. She placed the phone down onto her table, hitting the pen and having to lean to catch it as it rolled towards the edge of the table, not wanting it to fall onto the floor. What a great first impression, she thought to herself. She bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing. She didn't know this girl, or at least she didn't think she did. She had to be a college student, otherwise she would have met her at some point. She was stunning, though. She had the most gorgeous hair, an amazing figure, and those eyes.. Oh those eyes! They were beautiful! She hated to admit to herself that she judged people from the cosmetology side of school before she had even spoke to them. She had to look at their makeup as the deciding factor. Luckily enough, this girls makeup was flawless. She looked like she was into the darker shades, just like Billie. She would have presumed that she was a model if she had just seen her around campus. She smiled up at her, her eyes crinkling slightly as she did. This girl looked nervous, but there was nothing about Billie to be remotely scared of. Although she came across to a lot of people as pretty bad-ass, she was as sweet as pie. "Hi! Yep, that's me, table number 9!"

It amused her slightly at how formal this girl was. Billie was the type of girl to just rock up next to somebody and that was that. It was very rare that she actually got nervous. Maybe the teachers had decided that the people paired together would have different strengths and weaknesses. "Billie-Jean Gallegos. You can just call me Billie, though." She shook the girls hand, able to feel the girls bones, especially around her thumb. She was pretty sure that Toni would be able to feel hers, too. "I'm a high-schooler, still." If it wasn't obvious enough by her height, she was one of the younger ones in her year group. "Guess the teachers thought it'd be fun to mix us all up for a change!"

She held up her card that she had been given on the way into the classroom. "So you got Indian Wedding too, right?" she asked curiously. She was hoping that they had been given the same thing, anyway. She didn't want them to have different themes and have to mix them together. She had done that before and it had turned out a disaster for her! Who had the stupid idea to mix a mermaid and a viking together, anyway? "I wonder if we're gonna have a model to work on or if we have to work on each other?" She asked, the excitement clear in her voice. Anything make-up related always put Billie in a happy mood.

The corner of Toni's lips twitched up at the sight of the girl reaching to grab the pen before it could fall off the table, but not wanting to look as if she was laughing at her Toni bit the inside of her cheeks. It didn't help much. Instead of looking straight faced and aloof, her face looked strained, tensed even, with her cheeks sucked in and with her lips puckering out. Quickly, she relaxed her facial muscles and settled her backpack down on the floor right next to her chair, hand still extended as she got a closer look at the girl. Nice lips, eyes, hair--though she could tell by looking at it that the strands had been doused in different chemicals here and there, not to the point where it made the hair look bad persay, but with a few treatements it could probably look softer--but just as her earlier thoughts had been, she looked pretty. Really pretty. Her paleish skin contrasted with the dark coloring of makeup she wore, and along with her hair coloring and clothes she looked... Intersting. Pretty, if not a little skinny, but who was she to judge for someone being too skinny? Look at her, after all.

She pushed the thoughts aside as the girl finally spoke, introducing herself and grabbing Toni's hand to shake. Toni gripped the other girl's hand lightly, though to her own surprised she found herself looking down at the interlocked hands, looking at the bones that poked out from beneath the girl's skin. hm... Interesting. Normally when she shook other people's hands she was met with plushy flesh that felt nice and warm. This time, though, she was shaking the hand of someone who was equally as bony as she was in the fingers. It felt... Nice, for once. Toni couldn't help the smiles. She looked back up at Billie-Jean and nodded her head in acknowledgement and rested her hands back on the table. "It's nice to meet you, Billie." she said gently and pulled out her card and flashed it to her partner. "Yup. Table 9 Indian Wedding, just like yours. I wonder what they were thinking when they came up with this." She looked at the card, furrowed her brows at that, and set it back on the table. "But I digress. Seems interesting regardless, though I can't say that I know too much about Indian weddings... We'll just have to see what they're going to want us to do with this, what ever that is anyway. I've been here for three years and I've never had to do something like this before. It should be intersting though. High school students learning from the college students, and the college students learning from the high school students."

Fortunately, Toni had a feeling that she wouldn't have too many problems when it came to working with Billie. She had met more than enough people here who thought they were high and mighty, a few people in this class for example, and she had a hard time believing that some of the college kids would want to listen to anything that the high schoolers had to say about this. She shrugged her shoulders at Billie's next question and looked at the clock that hung over the whiteboard at the front of the class. Five minutes to twelve, and then class would start. Funny how they were able to coordinate the classes enough to have this happen, not that Toni was complaining about it much if this gave her more experience with makeup, but it was different. Hopefully a good different.

"Who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave us a model to work on, but I wouldn't be surprised if they would want us to work on each other with this instead. But... I don't know. I hope they're not going to want us to model anything. I am the farthest thing from being photogenic." Despite the truth to the words, she laughed at the comment.

It was confusing to Billie.. Toni seemed to hold her hand for a little bit too long, but it wasn't something she was going to bring up. Maybe it was just a nervous thing. Maybe she wasn't sure how long she was supposed to shake hands with her for. Billie very rarely shook anybody's hand, so maybe this was just normal and it was actually her who was coming off a little bit strange right now. She shrugged the thoughts off, offering the girl a smile. She didn't really realise how tall she was until she sat down beside her. Her head was inches above Billie's, but that was something she was used to by now. Being 17 and only 4'11" was something people often found a little bit strange, as if she had chose to be that height.

"I've never been to an Indian wedding, or known anybody that has been to one." She mused, thinking of the weddings she had been to in her time. Not too many, but definitely no Indian weddings. "I know they're extra beautiful though. So bright and colourful." She looked down at her outfit and laughed, amused by her own words. "The exact opposite of me!"

She doodled on the back of her notebook with her pen, drawing swirls and stars whilst she spoke. Her eyes were still locked on Toni though, she wasn't ignorant enough to completely disregard the girl sitting in front of her. "Three years? That's so cool. I'm still in my first year, so I'm still getting to know most of the people here!" Some of these kids were full on. Ridiculously full on. She had to work with them in small doses. They were obviously all talented to even be accepted into this school, but some of them believed they had a lot more talent than they really had. Billie didn't really like people who were completely up themselves, she found it hard to bite her tongue around them, so she generally avoided them. But Toni seemed the opposite of up herself, she seemed willing to work with Billie and willing to learn from her and also teach her. She placed the lid back on the pen, looking back up to Toni. Her eyes, there was something about them that were insanely beautiful. Most people would kill for eyes that wide! "It's a weird combination but I'm so happy that we get to work together. I hope I'll learn a lot from you! Is it just makeup that you do, or are you into hair, too?" she asked, eyeing the girls waves. Her hair was beautiful, too! This girl was definitely the full package!

She watched as Toni looked up at the clock, following her head as she did, noting the time herself. "I kind of hope it's a model, because my hair definitely wont cooperate into a hijab!" She grinned at Toni's comment. "No way! If I had just seen you around campus, I would have presumed that you were a model! You're so tall and you have the most gorgeous figure and you're stunning! Honestly, I would have genuinely believed you were a model. Plus, you'd look greaaaat in a sari!"
