You’d think he’d be used to the sounds of sex by now.
Arthur groaned and slammed his forehead onto the space key on his laptop. The word document he was trying to write registered it, but Arthur didn’t care. He was so fucking tired. And the bed next door was creaking, and all he could hear -- even with both earbuds shoved into his ears and overhear headphones covering them – were moans. Why didn’t Chad have any sense of respect? Why did he always have girls over, and sleep with them, so unexpectedly? If there was a routine involved Arthur could at least know when to spend the night at Susan’s. But he couldn’t do that every night. Susan’s couch was horribly painful to sleep on and if he was over Adelaide would never want to sleep. If he wanted to homework he usually waited until he could get to the library, but this assignment was due in the morning and he had forgotten the library was closed early Sundays. So he had been trying to work on it all night. He felt himself beginning to doze off, the squeaks from next door becoming somewhat of a rhythm. The song he was listening changed to something by NSYNC.
He sat up and was greeted to blessed silence. He looked around his room and when he saw his clock he swore – 2 AM. Really? But at least it was quiet. That meant whoever Chad was fucking that night was either gone or asleep. He could finish this assignment, and… probably just pull an all-nighter. Otherwise, he’d sleep through his class, and that professor already hated him enough. So he’d just get a coffee in the morning and hope he didn’t doze off.
He stared half-asleep at his work. He now had 4 pages of blank. He brought his mouse up, highlighted it, and then deleted all the excess space. He sighed. Only 2 more pages to go… he sighed, the light from the screen the only thing illuminating his face.
He saved his work in case his laptop decided to die (as it often did). He spun his computer chair around and got up, rubbing his face with the sleeve of his baggy shirt. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if he skipped his class in the morning… so what if he got another absence on his record? He could sleep. It was just Writing I, anyway.
He opened his door and scanned the suite. It was quiet. Todd, Ace, and Chad must all be in their rooms. He left his door deadbolted as he headed towards the kitchen to get some water.
But then he heard something. The sound of something moving in the room he was heading to. He could see the arch, the little nightlight lit to give anyone in the kitchen a good grasp of where they were heading. He froze when he saw a feminine silhouette that looked like none of his suitemates.
”Hey. Who are you?” He asked though, by process of elimination he pegged her as the girl Chad was sleeping with. God, he hoped she wasn’t too loud. It was too early for a loudmouth. ”Uhh… I’m just going to the kitchen for a glass of water.”
Why was he the one explaining himself? This was his dorm. Ugh. He just didn’t want her to start randomly screaming if some guy she didn’t know came up behind her in a strange dorm.
