Hallie left the suite with a sigh, swinging her brown purse over her shoulder. The purse was big, tote sized, and contained a notebook that was covered in stickers of well-endowed women. Hallie had actually gone above and beyond with this assignment! She knew she knew jack-all about how paintings were in the era of World War Two – sure, she could assume people drew angsty things because they were all depressed and Hitler sucked but that wasn’t supported by evidence and would cause Hallie to fail her assignment.
She was wearing all gray today – funny, Hallie Grey in all gray – with a loose-fitting tee-shirt and some skinny jeans. She had on a pair of thin shades to shield her eyes as she walked down the pavement of Metric towards the bus stop. She clacked away on her phone to her brother as she waited at the bus stop, chewing on the side of her lip. Finally the bus came and Hallie got on, said a friendly hello to the driver, and took a seat on the side. She made conversation with the passengers as her phone occasionally vibrated in her tote, signaling texts. Eventually the bus pulled into downtown Salem’s mall and Hallie dismounted, paying her fare. She then walked a few blocks north, clacking on her phone until she was obscured by the ginormous shadow of Salem’s Art and History Museum.
She looked up at the tow beautiful buildings, admiring the view for a moment, before she hummed and walked inside. She greeted the teller and took a seat on one of the comfortable chairs, waiting for Bastien, the teacher’s assistant, to come and help her.
