BASICS
Name/Nicknames ||
Mallory Lucille Abbott. Her grandmother called her Little Red and Gracie teasingly calls her Marshmellowry. She also answers to Mal or any other nickname a person makes for her.
Age/Birthday ||
Mallory is 21 and her birthday falls on September 15th.
Reputation ||
Mallory is known to be a bit of a wallflower. In a crowd of people she tends to disappear, well, not completely because, let’s face it, her red hair is a bit of a dead giveaway. She really does not socialize with a large group of people but finds herself dragged into various social situations because of her outgoing bestie Gracie. Her quietness can sometimes be misconstrued as bitchiness but she is kind to everyone (unless they give her reason otherwise).
She has been classified as somewhat of an oddball given her awkward first impressions and the fact she carried her video camera around with her everywhere.
Job ||
Since her grandmother is very well off, technically Mallory does not need a job but she chose to have one so she could learn to provide for herself and have some work ethic. She took a job at the local diner as a waitress. Even though sometimes she struggles to remember whose food goes to who she still has managed to keep the job for three years.
On the side Mallory makes Youtube videos of cinematic locations set to background music. Although she does not have very many followers, she enjoys putting out her creations to the public and getting feedback on them. She has a few devoted followers who really enjoy her work which is enough for her.
SCHOOL/SOCIAL INFORMATION
School and Class ||
She is a junior at Metric College and is very dedicated to her work, so much so she can zone out for hours at a time while editing a video.
Major ||
Film – She would love to be a director or anything which would allow her to be behind a camera.
Best friend(s) ||
Mallory has one best friend in the entire world and that would be Gracie Fischer. Even since she was seven years old and moved in across the street from him they have been inseparable. They have a strange connection which allows them to read the other like a book. The two can always tell what the other person is feeling and they have been known to finish each other’s sentences. Though she does not view Gracie romantically, she would not go as far as to say he is like a brother because it just feels weird. He is more like her platonic soulmate than a sibling.
Aside from Gracie, she has an abundance of friends through schoolwork. She has become friends with Todd Bennett after asking him to model for a few of her cinematic videos. Although she will admit to finding him attractive, she looks for more than looks in a guy. Most of the other friends she have had been made through her association with Gracie.
Enemies/Rivals ||
Mallory makes an effort to not have bad blood with anyone though it can be somewhat difficult with her smart mouth. The one enemy she does have is Chad Richardson. He has tried hitting on her on various occasions, but she has always turned him down. She knows about his reputation as a womanizer and finds it completely insulting. Chad is exactly the kind of guy she chooses to steer clear of. He is conventionally attractive and uses his good looks and money to get what he wants which means she is dead set against ever giving into his pretty-boy ways.
Sexuality ||
Straight
Relationship Status ||
Single but not really looking for anyone. She is very devoted to her schoolwork and finds most boys a waste of time, so it takes a lot on a boy’s part to obtain her interest. The only way she could see herself dating someone is if they started out as friends. Nothing good can ever come from rushing into a relationship.
APPEARANCE
Height/Body Type ||
5’7” with a slender and delicate body structure. She has a bit of curve to her figure but for the most part she is rather petite. Mal has legs for days which can be a problem because it makes shorts and dresses appear rather short on her but they really helped her in track when she was in high school. Her skin is very fair and she has a rather obnoxious (though some find it adorable) array of freckles on her cheeks.
Hair color ||
Red – Her hair color earned her quite a bit of nicknames in high school
Eye color ||
Olive green, making her the typical ginger with red hair, green eyes, and freckles
Clothing style ||
Mallory is very modest in her apparel. Even when she wears skirts or shorts she wears tights or leggings beneath them in order to keep herself covered. She loves loose and comfortable clothing that does really emphasize any part of her body meaning a lot of her wardrobe consists of oversize sweaters and cardigans. Her style could most accurately be described as classy, quirky, and a little bit old fashioned. Mal almost always wears glasses. She does not have a prescription, so she buys non-prescription glasses or pops the lens out of old ones and uses them for aesthetic purposes.

BACKGROUND/FAMILY
Family ||
Grandmother – Ida Abbott – Retired actress – Ever since Mallory was born her grandmother has been the one taking care of her, so she sees Ida as more of a mother than a grandmother. The two are very close though Mal fears her time with her grandmother is drawing toward its end because she is quite old and not in the best of health. Her grandmother is the one who introduced her to all the film classics which is what drove Mallory to pursue a career in the filming industry. Twice a month she visits her grandmother to hang out and bring her groceries and anything else she may need.
Grandfather – Robert Abbott – Deceased – Her grandfather was always a very stubborn man and never really showed much emotions. He did have a soft spot for his granddaughter but it did not mean he was not above punishing her if she acted out. Robert was the only male influence Mallory had in her life, and he passed away when she was seven-years-old
Mother – Bethany Abbott – Fast food employee/drug addict – Mallory does not even consider Bethany her mother, just the woman who gave birth to her. The woman has made an attempt to be in her life but neither Mal nor her grandmother thinks it’s a good idea. She lives in another state and has never even tried to travel to see her daughter.
Father – Max Thatcher – Unknown – Mallory’s ‘sperm donor’. She knows nothing about her father and plans to keep it that way.
Mother figure – Ava Fischer – Ex-Olympic figure skater Gracie’s mom has always been very kind to her and Ava sees her as the daughter she never had.
Backstory ||
Ida Abbott lived a lavish lifestyle. Being a former actress meant she had connections to all of Hollywood’s richest gatherings. She often brought her daughter Bethany to give the girl a taste of the good life and allow her dance with handsome, eligible bachelors even though she was still a child. It was at one of these parties Bethany met Max Thatcher, an up-and-coming actor who had eyes for the young lady and swept her off her feet. He easily talked the child (who looked much older for her age) into meeting him in one of the bathrooms of the large estate where he deflowered naïve little Bethany.
After that night Bethany tried to contact Max but the number he gave her was a fake. In fact, he was not an actor at all but one of the caterers hired to help at the party. The fifteen-year-old was heartbroken and felt lost, with her innocence gone she felt used and betrayed. Things only got worse when she found out she was pregnant. As any teenager would do, she panicked. Eventually she worked up the nerve to tell her mother and begged her to take her to get an abortion. Ida refused and told her daughter she and Robert would take care of things, they would raise Bethany’s child as if it were her own. Thankfully to hand off the responsibility, Bethany went through with the pregnancy and gave birth to a beautiful little girl she named Mallory Lucille.
Bethany had escaped being a fifteen-year-old mother but shortly after the birth found herself going down a bad path. She wound up hanging out with the wrong group of people, got herself into drugs, and ran away from home leaving behind her mother, father, and her little daughter.
Luckily Mallory grew up in a normal setting. Her grandparents watched over her fondly and treated her no different than a parent would treat their child. She would often sit in front of the television with Ida and Robert watching old black-and-white movies and silent films (some of which her grandmother starred in) and that is what sparked her interest in film.
When she was seven-years-old her grandfather passed away from a heart attack, leaving her and her grandmother torn. It was at the funeral Mallory met someone she had never expected to see…her mother. Bethany looked terrible, her skin pasty and skin taut against her cheekbones. She greeted Mallory with open arms but the little girl only stiffened and recoiled from the heavy smell of whiskey and cigarettes. This was just a strange to her, nothing more. Mallory hid behind her grandmother as Bethany begged to have her daughter back. There was some talk of welfare and benefits which she was too young to understand but later came to learn Bethany was trying to get money off of being a single mother. Ida had to turn her daughter away but offered to provide her with money as long as she stayed away from Mallory. The little girl was too fragile to have someone like Bethany in her life.
Shortly after her grandfather’s death Mallory and her grandmother moved from Hollywood to Salem where she met her next door neighbor Gracie. The little boy was energetic and loud and refused to let go of her hand as he showed her around. He was social and confident, exactly the kind of friend she needed in her life.
In middle school most people believed the two were a couple even though it was more than clear Gracie was not into girls. They let it be, allowing the rumors to exist. The one thing Mallory could not stand is how the boys at school would bully Gracie. She saw the bruises almost every day after school and told him he needed to do something about it, but he never did. Then one day, she snapped. They were walking down the hallway when someone tripped Gracie and uttered a crude word. Mallory was unable to control herself and punched the boy in the face. The day ended with Mal receiving a black eye and her and Gracie both ending up in detention.
High school came much easier. Though there were still scuffles along the way, she managed to make it through relatively unscathed. The day she graduated was one of the hardest days because she knew it meant not being able to see Gracie every day; however, she did managed to get accepted into Metric’s School of the Arts which meant she would be close by and he could visit any time. In fact, one of Gracie’s brothers had been accepted to the same school, so she moved right into Oliver’s apartment.
Shortly after that the two started dating. Oliver was different from most boys, he was mature and well-read. They dated for a year before the flame died out and Oliver moved out of the apartment to find one of his own. The bright side to this rather cruddy event was now Gracie could move in since he too had been accepted into the school.
Now living with her best friend, Mallory is completely content with her life and hopes to graduate with high-honors.
OOC NOTES
- Mallory finds beauty in the grotesque and likes to make short films about things people rather stop to contemplate.
- She appreciated the inner beauty of a person and does not go for those who she deems ‘conventionally attractive’
- Because she is quite reserved she has been labeled as a virgin though she most certainly is not.
