Todd sat at one of the benches, nervously playing with his hands. There was supposed to be another school event today, another one of those meet and greet sorts of things. Trying to get even further out of his shell, Todd had opted to attend. Beside him on the bench was Chad Richardson, a blonde and overly excited boy who was trying to point out the attractive girls who passed to Todd. He'd bene doing this for a good hour, and Todd was wondering when Chad ever intended to stop talking about girls.
“Look at her, Todd, isn’t she pretty? I dated a girl like her once.” Chad loosened his tee shirt from around his neck, so that he could breathe, “Did I ever tell you about the time I dated my housemate? And it turned awkward. She was a blonde, just like that girl. Except the girl I dated had a nicer…”
“Y—yeah, I’m sure she did.” Todd hesitantly agreed before Chad could make a rude comment, his arms wrapped around himself. He was wearing a blue button down shirt and a pair of pale jeans that suited his figure well—as a male model, Todd generally looked good as a rule of thumb—his luck just worked out that way. Chad sighed at Todd’s reluctance to join the conversation, and instead spotted someone he recognized. Amy O’Neal was hanging out near the sidewalk, talking to a group of people. Chad clapped Todd on the shoulder and bounced away, coming to a stop beside Amy as he slung an arm around the curly haired girl and began to join in on the conversation.
That left Todd all to himself, as he awkwardly looked around the school grounds for someone friendly to talk to. He debated getting up but didn’t want to wander around too much, so he stayed where he was, shooting friendly looks over towards people who he made eye contact with. Amy and Chad were both greeting everyone they saw, but Todd had never been very charismatic.
