Focus point: Right, blonde
Name: Shannon Michael Blaire
Age: 16 years old//February 14, 1998//2:00 am
Class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior: Sophomore
Reason for enrolling: As one often hears, he was enrolled for improvement. He is already gifted in drawing and photography, but he has high hopes on going even higher, never stopping until he’s a true master of the arts. It is also his way to escape from his family and the chaos that surrounds the whole household back home. Three years is a pretty long time to know one another, and yet they dated by the third month. Now, both attend Metric in hopes to keep Shannon away from family, and so they both can grow in their parts of art.
Appearance: Most mistake Shannon for a female upon first glance, but it isn’t exactly too long before they realize otherwise since his throat is almost always visible, occasionally having little red marks all over his neck. He dresses overly casual, satisfied with a white shirt underneath his jacket, a pair of clean jeans covering his lower half, and he has two necklaces/pendants dangling from around his neck. His shoes are usually tennis shoes with sharpie marker all over them, a habit of his boyfriend’s when he’s quite bored. He can be found with his boyfriend about 90% of the time, but quiet and reserved when it comes to being on his own.
Personality:
Short temper: Despite what one would usually think of this, Shannon doesn’t react by being violent or yelling. Instead he either falls dead silent to keep the thoughts in his head, or they get a smart ass remark about what pissed him off. He’s easy to trigger, but he’s also confusing since he rarely lashes out, merely remarking or falling silent and backing off. Very few can tell he’s getting annoyed before it’s too late, however, because of his quiet and almost eerily calm demeanor.
Introvert: Ironically enough, he’s the opposite of his very social boyfriend. He prefers to keep the groups small, and he tends to be more of a loner than a group member. He hates it when he’s assigned a partner that isn’t his boyfriend, simply because he has to work with someone that’s more unknown to him, it is hard for him to react when he’s forced to be social without his social firefly nearby or even there. He prefers darkness, quietness, and stillness, as it makes for a very relaxing situation… and lit candles are what will really tip it off the scales.
Quiet: Although he can talk to others just fine, especially if he already met them or his firefly is around, his voice is always quiet, just like his behavior and personality. He has a hard time being called on in class because of it, since the teacher’s usually get on his case to be louder than he’s used to. He was raised in a very quiet home, where kids get a spanking if they made too much noise, especially after 8 PM. He tends to bottle up things rather than talk about them, and gets quite nervous if someone tells him to speak louder. He also doesn’t make much noise, all due to his rather strict parenting. The main way they learned was by doing ‘chores’ for their mother every day, and since she was an art teacher, his father a scientist and book writer, it was only natural that they were taught the arts at a pretty young age. Due to her eldest son dying by suicide, her youngest son is the first one sent to Metric… And Shannon happens to be him.
Likes: Quiet/silence, books that are somewhat realistic but have some fantasy touches, coca cola, mountain dew, gatorade (he’s extremely partial to cool blue), the colors blue and green, eyeliner and other small things to do with makeup, his boyfriend Adrian, his kitten Kaiva, night hours since it’s usually quieter, sitting outside when it’s quiet, usually under a tree to sketch, rain, being in the rain despite fears of being hit by lightning, swimming as long as no one dunks him underwater or surprise him by pulling him down but underneath the water as well...if he manages to keep his head above water he’ll be fine with the random jerk into the pool, smoking as long as he’s not in a huge group and pretty much adding to a thick wave of smoke, sketching in a place that’s quiet, and he wants to eventually learn a few tricks on the beautician side of things despite it not being part of the reason when he first enrolled, gentle music, music that has meaning to it, lullabys, imagery (someone describing a scene in a cool, relaxed way while the people try to just relax as their eyes closed, visioning the scene within their minds, but it’s based on a large way of things so it can be individualized, will post an example at end of profile), coloring, cuddling (even if it’s just with a somewhat close friend or his cat, Adrien’s an obvious one X3), beautiful images of nature, being within a beautiful forest with a waterfall, camping as long as it’s with semi-quiet individuals and Adrien… more will be added if need be, but this is it for now.
Dislikes: Being underwater, loud noises (he actually dreads and hates 4th of July due to all the loud fireworks), strictly fiction or nonfiction only books, the colors yellow and orange, people bashing gays/or anything else really, people mistaking him for a girl, people lecturing on smoking, his family in a lot of ways, when Adrien’s pissy enough to lash out without realizing it, lightning, loud thunder (he’s known to whimper and cuddle/hide where he can if it’s loud), the smell of icy hot, when he messes up a sketch, when someone ruins the imagery session, when someone calls Adrien, 19, a pedophile (in fact, he’s actually been known to punch or bite the last few people who did it), too strongly scented candles, snow and hail, people who look down on him (especially when they echo his father and say he’s worth nothing and will never amount to being anything), being called dear by ANYONE, people slamming things when angry (and he does once he hits a breaking point, but tries to leave the situation before then), people who say tracing is cheating (he tends to trace to learn the shapes used in his next drawing), people who are over egotistical and place themselves above others, people who joke about suicide (before he met Adrien, he had tried suicide multiple times), those who diss or make fun of people who self harm (look at his left arm, scars from cutting and eraser burning can still be seen despite the last one being four months ago), bigger dogs, dogs barking, boring classes that hold little meaning for a lesson.
History:
Early childhood: His parents had sex without protection, it was sort of a ‘I’m making up for hurting you’ session, but his mother conceived. Since his mother was only fifteen while his father was eighteen, they were shocked and had no idea how to react. For the first few months they considered abortion, but Alison (his mother) softened as soon as she seen the first ultrasound, and no longer wanted to get rid of him. The first few months were rough once he was born, his parents fighting over how to treat him what way… and things didn’t help when his sister, Kayla, was born when he was four years old. For a long while, people tried to turn them in for abuse towards the children, but every case was dismissed. Things were tight as far as finances went, so Kayla and Shannon had few toys, but had the absolute needs. The one thing that people could prove is the children being spanked when they got too loud, but back then it wasn’t seen as anything major like it is today.
When he was six and Kayla was two years old, they were sent to live with their aunt to ‘allow us parents some fucking time together’, as his father put it. Things were almost heaven within this household, but when she was put in the hospital for a major heart attack, they found themselves returning home. Things had barely improved by the time Shannon was eight and Kayla was four. They were, however, finally put in school at long last.
At first, Kayla outshined Shannon despite being younger, since she picked up on things much faster… but by the time he was fourteen and Kayla was seven, they were pretty much even. He doesn’t remember anything about his older brother, as he had been raised by his own mother instead of the father they shared, but is thankful to now be able to attend Metric, which was often brought up in discussion a few years beforehand. He is fairly certain that if his mother could get more money together, his sister would be joining him, which he doesn’t mind except for the fact she’s loud and often rebellious outside of home life.
Friends:
Enemies:
Lover: Adrien James Kent, 19 years old, boyfriend of 3 or so years, pda is sometimes pretty common (mainly when Shannon shows signs of being upset by something, which Adrien seems to tell within seconds compared to everyone else who probably can’t tell.)
Other:
Father is in prison for gang activity, mother is a druggie that just wants to pretend she doesn’t have kids and tends to sleep around, and his sister is headed towards both paths despite being so young.
