“Uhm… are you supposed to be up there…? That camera looks heavy…”
Todd Bennett was on his way to the modeling studio for an assignment for one of his modeling courses. He had no work today, luckily, and thus he was seizing the sunny day to get homework done. He had to find a photographer available at the studio and pose for a few shots in something green. He was wearing the designated color already—he was sporting a green tee shirt, a denim jacket, and a pair of matching jeans. The color green really contrasted with his eyes and Todd generally didn’t like to wear the color to shoots. Still, an assignment was an assignment.
Currently the blond model was looking up into the thick leaves of a particularly bushy tree on the way to the modeling center, the center itself visible in his side vision. Inside the tree was a thick Mexican boy with dark hair, a camera blocking his face, clothed in a grey sweatshirt that had clearly seen better days, a pair of blue jeans that looked a few days old, and sneakers that looked like they would break at any minute. Todd, from the boy’s position, was surrounded by grass and that looked spectacular to him with the combination of the green shirt, and so he snapped a picture of the blue eyed boy as he stared. After the shot was taken Todd blinked rapidly and took a step back. “Uhm… who are you?”
“Oh!” The boy in the tree exclaimed, as though just now realizing his model actually was a person who had no idea who he was. “Sorry! Sorry, I am not a creepy pervert. You see, I am a student here, I work at the photography studio, I—“
“N—No… I know you’re Lucy Ad…Aj… Lucy from the studio… but why were you up there, exactly?” Todd said, his tone polite though he gave up on pronouncing Lucy’s name. Lucy, at the realization that Todd knew him, laughed loudly and shrugged.
“The best shots are obtained from obscure angles! Look!” Lucy said, showing Todd the photograph he’d taken. Todd blinked at it, nodding, it was a pretty good shot, especially with the wind blowing the way it was and combing the grass around him back, with his jacket blown just slightly in that same direction and a confused expression on his face.
“If you limit yourself you limit your work! That is my motto!” Lucy finished, retracting the camera from Todd’s vision. Lucy smelled kind of like alcohol to Todd, though he let it go. He hadn’t lied about the nice shot. Besides, Todd never liked to be a nag, unless it was to his best friend, who never looked out for himself enough. Therefore it was warranted.
Lucy held up his camera, kept it an arms width away, and did a duck face into the camera. Todd blinked, wondering why he was trusted with a camera. He seemed to be making rather stupid decisions.
“Are you… are you taking a selfie with a Nikon?”
“Yessir!” Lucy snapped a photo and then turned the camera around, examining the shot. He looked ridiculous, but he noticed a flash of brown hair in the background, attached to a particularly photogenic girl walking nearby. Turning around, he spotted the girl, who looked like she was headed this way. Lucy, ever friendly, decided to approach her and Todd, a little concerned about the camera, followed him.
“Hey! Are you going to the modeling studio? Because you seem the type to be a model! And they're doing shoots today!” Lucy said. “I’m Lucy Araujo, a photographer! Nice to meet you!”
Todd smiled semi awkwardly and waved from behind him.
“I’m Todd... nice to meet you.” He said, eyes bouncing to the expensive camera in Lucy’s hands.
