Name ||
Shyanne Maria Volle
Nicknames/Aliases ||
Shy, Annie (only her brother ever calls her this, though), Shar/Sharpay (Rylan calls her this, as a tribute to ‘Sharpay’, who she connects to from High School Musical).
Age/Year/School ||
Shyanne is 17 and a junior. Her birthday is November 5th.
Reason for Enrolling ||
Shyanne is in the theater program on campus. She is also a singer, and strives to be on broadway someday. She does not care who she crushes to get to the top, either. She is always trying out for the leads in musicals and plays (and, often, getting them) because she is not ashamed to put herself on a pedestal and prove her skill.
Major/GPA ||
She’s involved in the Theater/singing programs and maintains an A-B range average.
Gender ||
Female
Sexuality ||
Straight… with a question mark. Shyanne’s not exactly as straight as she likes to play herself off as. She fiercely denies that she finds girls attractive, especially because her family’s so against it. She feels no desire to explore her sexuality, and all of her happy-ever-after’s involve men. But it’s very much possible she could be bi and just hasn’t allowed herself to consider it yet. So technically she’d be classified as bi-curious, but hasn’t let herself explore that at all.

Job ||
Unemployed, she relies on the money given to her by her parents. Her mom gave her the credit and debit cards that she uses to purchase everything and anything she wants.
Reputation ||
Shyanne is a Queen Bee at the High School. She is well known as being very vain, popular, and easy to talk to. She’s not afraid of the opinions of others, it seems, and somehow a lot of the popular crowd seem to want to impress her. However she does still care about looking good to others. Shyanne does what she wants and her confidence and judgements makes her revered by those who long to be accepted in the school.
Friends ||
Her best friend is Issy, who she met in freshman year and has been close with ever since – the two of them are both on the cheerleading squad. She’s also close to Rylan, who is the “Ryan” to her “Sharpay” and she loves to watch High School Musical with him and fangirl over actors/actresses with him. She also loves to sing with him and he is her favorite performance partner because he totally lets her star shine, while not dimming her by being bad himself (he’s actually quite good at performing). She likes to drag him shopping and to the mall, ect. She’s close to the entirety of the cheerleading and football teams though it’s mostly through association – and she’s really only close to Seamus through him being Issy’s boyfriend, not really them being particularly close. Penn is a member of her posse, too, and Shyanne likes the way that the other girl idolizes her.
Shyanne is friends with Robyn Bunker, who is in her social circle and on the cheerleading squad.
She idolized Chardonnay when she was younger and followed her and Chad around when they were the ‘rulers’ of the high school when she was a freshman. She still idolizes the both of them but Chardonnay doesn’t really give her the time of day. In regards to Wyatt Shyanne initially hated her due to Chardonnay hating her but now she’s less bitter, because Wyatt’s popular, too. Shyanne’s friendship with the older three is solely based on what they can do for her and her own social status rather than an actual respectful relationship.
Enemies/Rivals
Shyanne does not like Maddie Miller, at all. They’re both popular types of girls and have a lot of friends throughout the school, and Shyanne spreads vicious rumors about her (and likely, vice versa). Maddie is the girl who her ex boyfriend Brad cheated on her with, so there's an extra layer of hatred there as well. She thinks that Maddie is a total whore and will do anything to steal things from her -- namely, her boyfriends.
Brad Hoffman is Shyanne's ex, and her first serious boyfriend. She met him in her freshman year and they dated for awhile until she found out that he was cheating on her after a year. Humiliated she dumped him, and stopped talking to him altogether. Though because of their social groups, Shyanne is always seeing him everywhere. She doesn't want to lose her popularity, so she doesn't make a scene about what he did. She still has the same friends as he does. And she knows that he wants her back but Shyanne knows she deserves better. She's determined not to take him back, but adores the way he fawns over her still, loving the attention even if she claims to hate the guy. Despite appearances, though, her breakup with Brad hurt Shyanne more than she's let on to anyone.
She also dislikes Cliff Arkwright strongly, as well as any ‘loser’, including his friend Noah. Though she did make Noah her lackey one time and did enjoy the way he gushed over her, he’s still a ‘loser’ to her.
She’s never liked Arthur because of the drama with Chardonnay, and of course the rumors that spread about them. Kara Cullen gives her the creeps as well, and she’s so catty that I am positive the list of people who dislike Shyanne is growing on the daily – even if they might pretend to like her.
Relationship Status ||
Shyanne is single, though she’s gone through several relationships throughout her time at Metric. Most of the time she’s dating around the football team, or other sports teams. The relationships often don’t last because Shyanne never makes time for her boyfriends and just expects them to drop whatever it is they are doing to spend time with her or make her happy. She wants to be in a ‘golden relationship’ like the one her best friend ha, but none of her relationships really last.
Clubs and Organizations ||
Cheerleading team, she’s the captain of the High School team.

Height/Weight/Body Type ||
5’4”. She’s petit, but very fit from her skills as a cheerleader. She works to maintain her body and is absolutely wary of fried foods and anything that might cause her to look less attractive than she wants to be.
Hair color/style ||
Blonde, usually kept straight to just past her shoulders. She will curl it, put in extensions, or twirl it up into an up-do is she feels inclined.
Eye color/makeup preferences ||
Her eyes are brown, and she loves to apply makeup, usually doing foundation, eye shadow, mascara, liner, lipstick, ect every day before she goes out. She doesn’t like to look ‘trashy’, so she spends hours in the morning making sure her makeup looks great, but not too tacky.
Clothing Style ||
Shyanne loves fashion and lives for it. She’s got a closet full of clothes and shoes, and is always adding to it. She doesn’t like to wear pants when she can avoid it – usually she prefers skirts and dresses.
Notable Traits ||
To see Shyanne without makeup on is rare. Not even her housemates have seen it – prior to waking up she hides her face and in the mornings she’s always the first one in the bathroom to shower and to put her makeup on.
Ethnicity ||
German-American
Playby ||
Danielle Bradbery

Nervous Habits ||
Not necessarily out of nervousness, Shyanne often flips her hair over her shoulder or plays with it. When actually nervous, which is a rare sight to see, she actively avoids eye contact and her tone of voice gets angrier than it normally is.
Hobbies ||
Shyanne loves to sing and perform on a stage, and one of her biggest hobbies is volunteering for and earning several roles in school sponsored productions and plays. She’s been in several throughout her time at Metric, and even when she’s not performing on stage or in a production, she usually goes to the empty stage room and pretends to be in front of a crowd – sometimes dragging Rylan with her.

Family ||
Karen Volle – Mother – 42 – Secretary || Karen is easily the person who spoils Shyanne the most and thus, the parent that Shyanne favors. Karen is desperate to be a “cool mom” and wants to get in Shyanne’s good graces desperately. She’s usually the one who stops her husband from disciplining Shyanne and taking away her things when Shyanne gets too spoiled. Karen will defend her daughter to the death and sometimes it always seems like Shyanne is her favorite child, something that Shyanne completely believes is true and brings up when arguing with Steven constantly. When she’s not sticking up to Richard for Shyanne, Karen is a very wallflower like woman who usually hides behind her husband and agrees with him on almost any subject. Like her husband she is very homophobic/transphobic/sexist/racist and believes it doesn’t matter if they are that way, as it “doesn’t affect their family at all”. Shyanne is more of a momma’s girl than a daddy’s girl and calls her mom when things go wrong or she’s upset. She only calls her dad for money.
Richard Volle – Father – 45 – Assistant to the Mayor || Richard is much harsher on Shyanne than her mother is and is thus the “bad parent” in Shyanne’s eyes. Despite this he makes more money than her mother does and it’s his money that she’s usually spending to treat herself to things that she doesn’t actually need. Richard sent his daughter away to school in an effort to force her to grow up (which unfortunately doesn’t seem to be working). Richard is also an extremely harsh and cruel man, who is very bigoted and very homophobic/transphobic/sexist/racist. His mentality it what dictates the Volle household. This mentality is what was projected onto Shyanne and though she isn’t as biased as he is at times (simply because she doesn’t care about social justice) she still says bigoted things all the time. Despite the fact he’s her “least favorite parent”, Shyanne still loves her daddy.
Steven Volle – Older Brother – 20 – Library Worker || Shyanne’s older brother is a lot different than Shyanne is. He’s quiet, soft spoken, and generally keeps to himself. He’s spineless and Shyanne knew this right off the bat and exploited this to walk right over her brother ever since she learned to speak. Whenever Shyanne does bad things, she blames them on Steven and Steven generally just lets her do it. Whether he does this because he loves Shyanne or is scared of her is a mystery. Richard is harsher on his son than he is on his daughter, to the point of emotional abuse and manipulation, but still Richard claims Steven as his favorite, more to speak. Shyanne often will blame bad things she’s done in her past on her older brother, who generally accepts Shyanne’s punishments rather than blaming her. Like the rest of his family, Steven expresses outright homophobia/transphobia/racism, typically through acting disgusted, thus contributing to the hatred his family perpetrates.

Hometown ||
Alder, Oklahoma
Vehicle/Transportation ||
Her cute little Pink Beetle she got for her sweet 16. Technically she’s not supposed to drive alone as much as she does, but Shyanne could care less as long as she gets to drive and doesn’t get pulled over.
Backstory ||
Shyanne was the second child born to Richard and Karen Volle, and the daughter than Karen had always wanted. From a young age, Karen drilled it into Shyanne’s head that as the daughter of the family she had to be beautiful and grow up to turn heads. Shyanne was entered in beauty pageants by her mother ever since she was little and Shyanne had a natural talent for the stage, and a natural beauty to her that gravitated the judges towards her.
Shyanne was raised in a small rural town in Oklahoma. The town was basically intertwined with the church and Shyanne was taken to worship every Sunday with her family ever since she can remember. The town itself was probably one of the worst towns in the United States—because of how biased the entire town was. There probably wasn’t a black person in their town because of how badly the town treated people. Their town was the type that proudly defended and bore the confederate flag, claiming that it didn’t represent slavery but instead represented the south in general. Shyanne thought nothing was wrong when her town raised the confederate flag beside its state flag and the United States flag. Shyanne never cared much to listen to political talk between her parents but she heard enough to understand her father and mother were republicans, her father a man completely invested in politics. Her mother generally just went along with whatever her husband said.
Shyanne’s pageant dwelling made her long to be more beautiful than all the other girls. Her mother spent her husband’s money buying Shyanne dresses, makeup, shoes, anything that her daughter could long for. Shyanne started to grow up spoiled that way—if she ever saw anything feminine in the store that she wanted, all she had to do was stare at it for long enough and her mother offered to buy it for her no matter what the price was. Shyanne loved how her mother longed to spoil her. Alternatively, her brother Steven barely got anything other than food from their mother when they were out shopping. Shyanne’s mother would often tell him that he should ask their father to take him shopping sometime if he asked for anything. Shyanne usually made Steven carry her bags.
When they got old enough Shyanne would drag her brother to the store alone, without their parents, claiming it was family bonding time. At these times she’d spend her mother’s debit card dry, using Steven as a lackey when it suited her.
Shyanne’s biggest dream, ever since she saw High School Musical when she was a child, was to be a Broadway Star. It was a stretch and her parents were skeptical, not sure that Broadway was a fulfilling career. But Shyanne was naturally talented. She had a good command of the stage and a great vocal range. Karen still enrolled Shyanne in pageants and she told the newscasters that her dream was to become a star and play Sharpay Evans in a reenactment of High School Musical. Her mother decided to record Shyanne at a pageant to send to recruitment schools, displaying her command of the stage, voice, and acting talents. Shyanne was oblivious to being recorded, but had she known she definitely would have been happy to be recorded.
When she was 13, her father was growing sick of Shyanne spending him dry. He saw how Shyanne’s room was literally filled with things that she never used and threw almost half of her things out in an angry rage. That made Shyanne mad, too, because those were her things! Though as some sort of testament to how little she actually cared about her material possessions, Shyanne couldn’t name all of the things her father had thrown away. Shyanne was mad at her dad after this and claimed to hate him, storming up to her room. She bumped into Steven and yelled at him before she huffed and went back into her room, ignoring her brother.
Angry at her dad, Shyanne decided to act out. She and her friends from middle school, as a prank, decided to spray paint the high school. Shyanne stole some tubes of bright red spray paint from the local store and gave them to her friends. The group of four girls then spray painted designs on the walls. Most of the girls painted hearts and images but one of them was obscene enough to draw penis shapes.
Of course the spray painting incident was not unnoticed. The police were looking for the perpetrators. Shyanne had the leftover spray paint in her garage and unfortunately before she could hide it her dad came home and discovered the paint. Furious, he called his children down and demanded them tell him who did it. Shyanne panicked then and said she saw Steven sneaking out of the house that night. There was a long, life-threatening pause where Steven stared over at Shyanne and she stared back at him. Steven eventually sighed and then took the blame for Shyanne.
She was shocked that it was so easy, but not upset. After that Steven was taken to the police station to confess. Karen told Richard that she wanted to send Shyanne to an academy then, to keep her away from an influence like Steven. Richard didn’t seem like he believed Steven had done the spray painting but as his son had confessed, he couldn’t refute it. He instead agreed to send Shyanne to Metric, saying that a boarding school would force her to grow up less spoiled.
He was very wrong, though. Shyanne immediately latched onto two upperclassmen she met when she arrived at Metric—Chad Richardson and Chardonnay Nicholas. They were the popular, gorgeous types of people that Shyanne wanted to be. She became their follower and whenever it was possible she hung out with them and was seen with them by everyone in the school. Shortly thereafter, she became associated with the ‘popular’ crowd and met her new friends Issy and Seamus. When Chad and Chardonnay graduated, Shyanne and her friends slid right up to steal their place as rulers of the school.
She stills speaks to Chad, though Chardonnay is done with her, Shyanne still claims to be her friend and will acknowledge her at school wide events if she sees her around.
Her time in high school has been filled with friends, boyfriends, breakups, and all sorts of drama. Shyanne is a total bitch to people out of her social class unless it benefits her to play nice. Her brother’s not told anyone that it was Shyanne who spray-painted and stole, and she’s fine with no one ever finding out. Shyanne goes to a lot of college parties because Chad brings her and so she feels like she’s got more ‘experience’ than her peers—which makes her even more of a fit to be their “Queen”.
Shyanne became a cheerleader during her sophomore year, and she loves it. She’s the cheerleading captain for the High School team, and Issy is the co-captain.

Notes ||
- Shyanne’s homophobia has been instilled in her since she was very young by her parents, who were equally as homophobic, probably more. She knows no different and thus far every experience she’s had with homosexuality or homosexual people is bad. Now obviously this doesn’t justify her homophobia at all, but as she develops I hope that she can learn that there’s nothing wrong with homosexuality and that anyone can be queer, not just the people who she dislikes and who bother her. Ideally, I’d love to develop her out of this phase especially since I hate writing her so ignorant but, unfortunately, that’s how she is.
- Her hometown isn’t actually a place. I made it up. Pretend it’s a highly religious, southern oriented town.
- The song lyrics are from Primadonna Girl by Marina and the Diamonds.
