At least she was able to tip him off his semblance of control after mentioning that her mom found the condoms. Chardonnay would have felt prideful had she not been so pissed off, likely with a smug look on her face and a haughty air around her. But, at it was, even hearing him say that wasn't enough to bring her mood back up, nor did it let her forget about the plaid that was hidden somewhere in her condo. Where would he have put it anyway? Maybe in the kitchen? No, he knew how much she loved the kitchen and spent time in there, so likely he wouldn't have done that. So he had to have put it in a spot that she didn't normally go to, right? Maybe one of the two guest rooms? Or maybe that was what he wanted her to think. Maybe he had put the plaid in the kitchen knowing that she'd think that he wouldn't put it there because she frequented it often when cooking and always looked through the drawers and cabinets. There were a lot of spaces in the kitchen where things could be hidden too, so many...
God, she hated this! Thinking about the plaid was going to take up most of her day and she knew it! She wasn't going to be able to look for it when she got off the phone with him because she'd have to get ready for work, but when she got home she knew she'd be looking for it. Even if she had to turn this place upside down she'd find that damn plaid, wave it in his face, and prove to him that she could find it. Maybe she'd even burn that too, just to bother the hell out of him. On his little message he said that it wasn't a shirt, meaning that it probably wasn't anything he wore, so why should he care if she burned that? Besides, he really brought this upon himself this time.
"Yes she found the condoms! And no, she wasn't looking for them, she just found them and questioned the hell out of me about it! You're just damn lucky that she doesn't know it's you or that she didn't figure out that it's you that I'm fucking at dinner!" To be fair, she was lucky for all of those reasons as well, thankful for the fact that her mother hadn't found any of that out. The guy her mother assumed she had sex with before was nameless without a face. Good. It needed to stay that way, not only just because it was Arthur, but thinking about her mother knowing who she had sex with... That was awkward. It was enough that her mother knew that she had sex in the past; she didn't need to know who it was with or even try to put a face to a name, neither of which she had bee given. "So that's why you need to come get this plaid before the next time they come over; I don't need my mom finding it!" Sure, he won't be the one facing the consequences if her mother found the plaid, but it's not something that Chardonnay wanted to go through!
"God, you're just so--Ugh!" she groaned out after his words, knowing that all of what he was saying was true, that just like him she didn't want to stop this, that she didn't want to have to drive down to Salem once a week every week. Fuck him for knowing that. Fuck him for knowing that much about her to figure all of that out. "It doesn't matter if I can't see it, Jackass! I know that it's here, and you can do that! I can... I can say that this is harassment!" She huffed, knowing that she was lying because she'd never call the police on him for something as stupid as this, but he had threatened her with the police so why not she do the same? "Because it's harassment to me and my mental state; it'll bother me and distract me from everything, and I may burn myself or cut myself while cooking because I'll be to distracted!" Okay, now she was getting to be melodramatic. It sounded cringe worthy in Chardonnay's own ears and she even closed her eyes out of embarrassment, but she didn't take back her words. "I just don't want it here!"
