Gracie's outfit x Mallory's outfit
Gracie laid face-down on his friend’s mattress, his feet in the air as he kicked them back and forth while flipping through the pages of various fashion magazines. He donned nothing but a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, not the typical attire for the typically flamboyant young man, but since he was just in the company of his long-time friend he was not looking to impress her. In fact, she could not have been less interested in him at the moment as she buzzed about her room shoving random objects into her tote bag. No doubt she was about to go on another one of her many filming excursions.
“So, what kind of wild adventure are you going on today?” he inquired as he absentmindedly flipped the page of his magazine, not entirely invested nor curious as to where Mallory was off to. She always filmed the weirdest things.
Mallory paused in front of her desk, mulling over which video camera to bring. For what she had in mind a run-of-the-mill digital camera would not do. She ran her fingers over each of the devices before she grabbed a rather large 16mm Bolex which was quite the ancient contraption. It belonged to her grandfather before he passed, and her grandmother knew Mallory would get the most out of it. The images it produces had the grainy, vintage feel she hoped to achieve with this video project.
“I’m heading to the graveyard to meet Todd there. We’re shooting another small piece, cinematic and set to music,” she explained as she very carefully packed the old camera in a shoulder bag.
All of a sudden Gracie seemed very interested in what she was doing. He immediately sat up, the magazine falling to the floor as he stared excitedly at Mallory. Todd was going to be there? Well, that certainly changed things. It was no secret he found the model absolutely attractive in almost every way. The man was a model! How could you not love him? The dark haired boy smiled his stupidly adorable crooked grin at his best friend and did his best to appear completely immersed in what she was doing.
“Sounds really cool…can I come?!” Gracie asked, clasping his hands together in front of him, “Please, please, please?! I promise not to interfere with your work. I’ve just been cooped up in this apartment soooooo long, and I’ve been working really hard and-“
“And you just want to make eyes at Todd the entire time, yes?” Mallory cut him off as she turned around and rose a skeptical brow.
“Well…I mean, yeah,” Gracie replied with smile. He hopped off the bed and wrapped his arms around Mallory before giving her a quick kiss on the cheek, “Thanks, love! I’ll go change!”
Mallory rolled her eyes and turned to finish packing her supplies. After fifteen minutes of waiting, she went to Grayson’s room and hammered on the door. “What’s the hold up?” she demanded before she opened up the door. Her jaw dropped when she saw various items of clothing sprawled over the floor and Gracie standing in the midst of the rejected outfits fully clothed.
“Well, I had to find the right thing to wear!...You’re really going to wear that?!” Gracie replied as he gestured to what Mallory wore.
“I’m filming, we’re not going on a date, Gracie,” Mallory reminded her friend as she tugged on his arm to get him moving. They were supposed to meet Todd in fifteen minutes and at the rate her friend was traveling she was afraid they would be late.
“Oh, that’s right, you have that whole thing against hot guys,” he snickered before whimpering childishly, “Lemme go…you’re gunna pull my arm outta its socket!”
After ten minutes in the car with Gracie singing at the top of his lungs (very horribly at that) Mallory finally pulled into the parking lot of the graveyard. She still had five minutes to spare which left her just enough time to record some footage for b-roll. Mallory took out her camera and threw her tote bag of props at Gracie for him to carry for her. The two walked down rows of graves together as Gracie tried to suppress a chill. This place was so creepy! Why did she have to choose this place to make her video? Suddenly Mal stopped in front of a grave with a withering bouquet in front of it and started to crank up the old camera to take some footage of the sight.
“This place gives me the creeps! Why do we gotta film here…isn’t it kinda weird?” Gracie whined as he rubbed his arms which had begun to prickle with goosebumps.
“Relax…it’s peaceful. There’s something beautiful about graveyards, something poetic…don’t you think?” Mallory replied as she leaned in to get her shot of the withered flowers, pointing the camera to she had a shot of the other graves in the distance. Gracie just rolled his eyes and hoped Todd would arrive soon, then he would have something to be excited about.
